View Full Version : Help me knit a ruffle please :)
Can anyone give me simple instructions for how to add a ruffle to the bottom of a hem on a skort? I don't want a big wavy ruffle, just something dainty and simple... tia :)

do you crochet at all? it seems to me (with my limited knitting experience) that it might be easier to crochet a lacy trim
Well... I don't crochet at all... and I think I would prefer the look of knitted if it's doable. Here's hoping someone else will jump in and help me out :)

Oh, what is the name? They did this on Knitty Gritty not to long ago. Picot trim, I think that is it. Try googling picot knit trim or something like that. Or go to diynetwork.com and search knitty gritty for leg warmers. They did picot trim on leg warmers.
BTW, Knitty Gritty comes on at 9:30 central time tonight.

Last night on Knitty Gritty, it was all about decorative edgings including ruffles. Perfect timing eh? So, check out the website. Melissa Leapman was there showing off all kinds of edgings.
Thanks for the tip Michelle :) I didn't really get anywhere with google but I checked out the website and found some info. I also checked my knitting books (d'uh... I forget I have those...) and I found picot edging, yay! Thanks for mentioning picot. Plus I found a couple other ruffle options, now I just have to decide which I'm going to do... I think I'll just have to jump in head first and try out a few. I'll post pics when I'm done :) might take me a while though, 'cause we're going on vacation for a couple of weeks. Thanks for the help!
