I can't believe I'm posting these pics. It's embarrassing, actually. This in only one side of my room. The whole room looks pretty much like this with a little path to the bed. At this moment, there is fabric on the bed. I've been living like this since January 1st! Dh is beyond irritated with it. I'm adding another pic just so he can see it goes beyond the bedroom...into the dining room. It's taken over the whole house, lol. He'll see...you likely have a much smaller problem, lol. You can barely see my ironing board out in the hallway. Guess what's piled on top of it? Fabric!

The dining room (which has bad lighting this time of day):http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/jacobsalley/sewing002.jpg

Tell your dh you need this to go along with your serger...since he's in the mood for making deals, lol...

I *love* the work table and cabinets. Did you dh do that? Where did you get all your cabinetry? And was it horribly expensive? Gorgeous room. Will be a dream to sew in... :cloud9:

He could, I suppose. He's just better at little teeny, tiny, abstract computer stuff then this.

We are having the whole basement done. It wasn't horribly expensive. Well, I guess it depends how you define horribly. I don't think our contractor made much money on it at all. Our house is a 60 year old ranch style and there was only one finished "Brady Bunch Rec Room" down there. Sketchy electric and failing pipes. Half of the money we spent went to new plumbing and electric and a heating system. Only that one room had heat, before. We pretty much needed to do those things anyway, so while we were at it... The floor...I'm a flooring snob. Fortunately, a long time ago, I used to work at this upscale flooring store doing accounting and also was a "design consultant" (fancy name for salesperson). They sold me the ceramic tile for cost and I used one of their installers on the side. It was still expensive, but it would have been totally cost prohibitive if it would not have been for the discounts. I love ceramic tile.

The workspace is just a countertop over melamine cubby like things. The shelves are adjustable. I don't care about all of that, though. I'll have heat and light. The counter top and cabinets were $1800. 16ftx13.5ft I think. Pretty reasonable in my mind considering I could have easily spent that at Ikea or somewhere for another solution I would have liked a lot less. I will put a cutting table in the middle someday.

I'm hoping Bob/Rita gets it done soon. It was supposed to be done a long time ago and I'm getting impatient!

...so, who ya gonna write the check to?

It depends who he/she is that day. Looks like today is mostly Bob with a little bit of Rita. (And, yes, he knows I'm posting his pic on the internet in this sewing forum.)

Seriously...we aren't even on speaking terms anymore. I just want him/her out of my house asap! He/she wanted me to write the final check to Rita since his/her name has legally changed. But, I didn't contract with Rita, I contracted with Bob... It became a legal issue and I gave him/her the option of rewriting all the contracts to reflect the name change or to take a check addressed to Bob. He/she chose the latter and has kept one bank account with his/her old name until my final payment.

It's been a journey...I tell ya. Let's just say I learned a lot about contract law and that I can't tell someone working in my home what they can and cannot wear unless I had specified it in the contract. So...next time...I guess I'll be putting in the contract "you cannot show up as a woman when my kids are home unless you have always been a woman when they've seen you". Lol... And...if you insist on being a woman, please don't have your bra all hanging out.

I guess I should add...I'm really not that judgemental about what he/she does. I don't even really care. I just don't like it going on in my house in front of my kids and it became a whole legal issue which I could not win.

So I assume he/she started out as Bob but is leaning more towards Rita these days?

Have you posted "the rest of the story" somewhere?? This looks like good reading material!! LOL

:joker: Eegads, Bob/Rita is nothing like I pictured him/her. :joker:

What a soap opera your life has become! ROFL Just think how funny this will be in a few years.

Your new space looks fab! I'm totally jealous. My weenie workroom pales in comparison.

Can't wait till it's all done!

Oh my goodness- what a wonderful studio!!! I LOVE the floor. (I wish I had the money to be a floor snob.) Hope it's done soon :)

Bob became Rita and is now totally Rita...except for that one bank account that has been left open until I pay him.. I don't think he/she "totally" became Rita if you know what I mean... I don't really want to know. It's just too wierd, y'know. He's like 60 or something! Oh, btw...he doesn't usually dress so masculine. Don't know what was up with that today. Ever see someone running a table saw in pink heels, lol?

I haven't posted the "rest of the story" anywhere. I'm pretty much avoiding the rest of the story...whatever that is. I just don't want to see it and I don't want to know.

Who can "afford" to be a floor snob? That's what home equity loans are all about. To be honest, ceramic over concrete doesn't cost much more than anything else. It's ceramic over a wood sub-floor that kills you in cost.

wow...uhm...wow. Words fail me right now :) I'm jealous of the sewing room! Bob/Rita looks like he/she did a good job, anyway :) ROFL re: the pink heels. I just read an awesome book about a transgendered person, called She's Not There. The name of the author escapes me but its a true story and was very very powerful.
