Last time I made panties I didn't have my serger and I know I could make this faster with a serger. Which side would serge the panty elastic to: the inside or the outside? Should I turn it? For some reason I am having a hard time visualizing it. Kaliana is in desperate need for some new undies so I need to dig through my scrap bin since I just got my elastic from Kathy on ebay.

I would serge it right sides together, then flip over and finish with a multi step zig zag on your sewing machine, if you have that stitch :)

Thank you so much! That's kinda what I was thinking but wanted to make sure before I wasted elastic trying.

One can just skip the serger altogether and use FOE. :D

That's what I usually do but I ordered 2 lbs of what I thought was supposed to be foe from the ebay lady Kathy. I only got three foe's that were stained from dye and the rest panty elastic. :( Sniff. I even asked for just FOE. I knew I should just ordered it from Sewzanne's like normal!

:( Did you email her and let her know you didn't get the right stuff? I've always had great service with her, and I got a foe box a few weeks ago with no problems. Sorry to hear you didn't get what you wanted.

Umm, I'm not sure how to answer this really.
I just stitch the ends of the elastic closed. I quarter the elastic, as well as the waistband and then just serge it to the inside of the waistband. Then I fold it down and go over it with the coverstitch.
No attachment here.

Alison and Cherry, have you seen this: http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthread.php?t=195943
Same method only easier since there's no drawstring to worry about.

ditto to what Marion said :) Per Crystal (Hannahsorchard) instructions, I now turn the knife off when I am serging so as not to cut the elastic. Very easy. I will never make another casing, lol!
