I have one biological 5yo boy. I never thought I could adopt because it would really strain me to pay the fees, plus pay child care and health insurance for two. I found out from an adoptive parent I work with that kids adopted from the state get health, childcare, and college education paid and the fees are very small! In Florida anyway.
She put me in touch with a private agency that processes kids in state custody. The orientation is in June. I would be hoping for a boy slightly younger than my own son.

I would appreciate any advice/stories/info.

Just want to wish you luck! We are foster/adopt parents here in AZ. Are you getting certified for both, or just adoption? In any case, depending on the specific child, they will get state health insurance, and a montly stipend to help with care, and you shouldn't have any fees at all. It's a rough journey but so worth it :)

:hbeat: :hbeat: Thanks gals for all of your props. It means so much. I'm going to go through the process and just see what happens. I have mixed feelings about changing the dynamics of my little family, but I would have those same feelings if I were pregnant.

Kristi it would be a foster to adopt. I won't start the classes until fall so there is some time.
