Would that be good for a newborn or should I go to the next size?
I sure wish I didn't sell my snap press AGAIN, cause I sure would like to make something with snaps. lol I don't ever put snaps on the kids clothes anymore... I just have been using buttons. But I didn't even think about baby clothes for gifts. Looks like I will own my FOURTH snap press again someday lol
I just have no idea what to make. sigh. I don't even really know this girl. I have never been to a baby shower where I met the person once. I am struggling with what fabrics to use too. I don't want to waste my nice baby nay stuff on someone who won't appreciate a homemade gift...
Wish I knew her better lol

Size 50 is tiny. :) 50 cm = 19.5" I'd say it will fit a 6-7 lb baby, but not for very long. Here's a picture of my nephew wearing some size 50 stuff I made (from 1/2004, I think)...he's about a week old and 6.5 lbs in this picture. HTH!

I'd have to say it's tiny too. I didn't make any for Len, but I did do some 56's, they're just a touch bigger than an old navy 0-3 months. HTH

I did 50's for a friend's preemie & they were big but wearable when she came home at 5 lbs. That was about 3 weeks ago & they're fitting much better at almost 6. I'm guessing that they'd fit to maybe 7-8 lbs?

DH just asked the dad when they are due... so I could figure out if I should make summer stuff in 0-3 or 3-6mos. Well get this... they aren't even DUE until September. Who the heck has a baby shower 4mos before they are due? Or I have never ever heard of it before anyway LOL. So looks like I get to make fall stuff instead. Glad I asked!!!!
I will go with the 56s :)

I usually use the 56 for newborn stuff. It's a little big on 8lb babies, but good for the first month or two instead of just the first week :)
Crystal I use www.snapsource.com snaps and love them for baby things (size 14) and use the size 16 on my kids. I really love them, they look a lot like the ones used on Gymboree clothes. They come in great colors too. Just thought I'd throw that out there so you don't have to do buttonholes. I have a snap press and don't use it on clothing except bibs.

Ya know, I never did buy one of those snap source setters. Are they easier to use than the hammer ones by dritz? Cause I swear I always got them in so that one side wasn't in all the way and it doesn't look all that professional that way! LOL
I might just get another press in a couple months and get the dies to do metal snaps.
Of course none of this helps me out for tomorrow morning LOL
Thanks guys for the size advise as well :)
They are much easier than the dritz and if you poke the prongs through the fabric and then place them in the setter it works like a charm :) It doesn't move and make a perfect snapola! I haven't tried the snap press with the metal snaps, I'm sure that would be nice though.
