I'm just so mad I have to write this out, lol. We redid all the flooring in the entire house. So let's start with round #1
They didn't show up on the day my dh took work off, carpet lady couldn't find her installers  . Then they showed up the next day and did 2 rooms/1 hallway of carpet, 2 bathrooms and entryway with ceramic tile and finally, they put new vinyl in the kitchen. They didn't use a refrigerator dolly, nor did they use a roller to lay the vinyl, so they scratched the he!! out of it and it was full of bubbles. And they sounded like they threw my washer and dryer into the garage
So the carpet lady takes almost an entire month to replace the vinyl that is horribly scratched because she didn't want to make her installers pay to replace it (since they scratched it  ). She actually calls me and wants me to call the vinyl manufacturer to see what I can get done - yes lets inconvenience the customer whose floor was scratched. I tell her I'm annoyed with this plan of hers, but I will call them. I call them, they immediately tell me, the store/installers -- not the manufacturer needs to replace it. Then I ask them if they are supposed to just "pat" down vinyl or use a roller -- they say the installers are supposed to be using a 100lb roller. And I tell them how the floor got scratched -- which was because the installers drug my refrigerator on scraps of carpet -- the manufacturer tells me that they are always supposed to use a refrigerator dolly.
So....I tell all this to the carpet lady. Her response to the dolly not being used is...."this is TX". I was thinking "huh?" So I had already scheduled and paid for more carpet to be put in all the bedrooms before this stuff had happened, so when they come to do that, the carpet lady schedules the vinyl to be replaced too - I'm thrilled, thinking it's almost over. Boy, was I wrong.
So round #2 - they come to do the carpet in the bedrooms and the vinyl. And they brought a refrigerator dolly - yay!! But no freakin roller!! So after they finish up some of the rooms of carpet, I go inspect it. It has huge ugly FLAWS in it!! First off - did the installers just ignore this as they are laying it down?? I paid for first quality carpet, not seconds. I call the carpet lady on her cell phone to come look at these flaws. She acts like she can't see them, even though they are blaringly there. She cuts out one of the flaws and takes it to her sales rep - who confirms they are flaws that the machine when it made the carpet put some of the carpet fibers upside down and it needs to be replaced. Yes, two more rooms of carpet have to be replaced, I'm so freaking mad over this, but it just gets better.....
They start to lay the vinyl and I don't notice the 100lb roller that the manufacturer says to use, I kept hoping they left it in the van  since I specifically told her they needed to have one. But no, they once again are "patting it down" with their hands. My dh asks them why there isn't a roller, the installers claim they don't need one, so once again we call the carpet lady  and tell her we specifically requested a roller be used since that is what the manufacturer told me directly and the bubbles were so horrible when they did it last time they scratched it. She claims she has to do some "checking" and finally 20 minutes later or so she calls the lead installer on his cell phone and sends one of his guys to go get a roller.
So after everyone leaves dh and I are checking out the carpet and the new vinyl - which is very nice this time around, very smooth - no bubbles - then I look up and notice 2 GIGANTIC foot long scratches that are down to the bare metal on my nearly new refrigerator. I'm pissed, dh is pissed, we call the carpet lady again  and what makes me so mad is she cares more about her moronic installers than her pissed off customer - her response is "oh those poor guys" -- no apology to me as once again her "installers" have messed up something else in my house -- Then she wants to know if they can be buffed out -- um, no, they can't be buffed out, it's down to the bare metal. So this was on Saturday morning.
Then she calls last night around 7 pm and leaves a message that she wants to come right then and there to take pictures of the scratches, but we were out buying a new shower door, so I didn't get the message til well after 9 pm. So I just called to speak with her about it and the carpet lady is on vacation until late next week. I swear I want to pull my hair out over this woman. Not to mention that in addition to her job as "the carpet lady" she also babysits her 10 month old granddaughter while she's working. Now I love babies, but she brings her to customer's homes, which I find a little odd, I wonder if her daughter knows how she just leaves her in rooms of strangers' homes. On more than one occasion whlie she was here measuring my rooms, she left her in her infant seat in my living room and I had to bring her to grandma because she was crying and scared. She brought her on Friday to my house and left her in my care for over an hour while she was on the phone about the carpet flaws. This woman doesn't even know me and she just took her out of her infant seat, sat her down with my ds and left the room to talk on the phone, and at the time our living room was rather dangerous because we had everything in here from the bedrooms while the carpet was being installed. UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I never imagined in a million years that new flooring would be this much of a freakin' hassle.
Well if you've read this far, thank you and I apologize for venting, lol. Okay off to take a hot shower.
