I'm a very novice sewer...most of my experience so far has been making diapers, but I've recently gotten brave enough to venture into other garments. This dress for DD is from a Butterick pattern (...I have to say their directions are the most confusing things I've *ever* read, btw...), using cotton knit fabric I found on the clearance table at a Hancock in the next town over.
Gentle suggestions and critiques appreciated...LOL. Just keep in mind that I really am a beginner! The pictures don't show details very well, but it's a lap shoulder design, with a gathered waist. I added topstitching around the waist even though the directions didn't include it...it just looks more finished that way to me.

That dress looks great! You did such a good job, it doesn't look like a novice sewer did it at all.

Thanks, ya'll!
Summerrainemama, I'm not sure why it starts giving little red x's :( I have the pics on yahoo, and it seems that as long as I have yahoo open in another browser window, the pictures show up find. But if I close the browser window, the pics in my post die :(

That looks really wonderful! No critiques needed :) I agree about Butterick. I used one when I first started sewing and it was so frustrating I almost gave up sewing altogether. I've never bought another one since! You should try Kwik Sew, they're soooo much easier and the directions are wonderful.

Okay, I moved them to photobucket, but HOLY COW they're huge now!! Sorry about that... I don't know how to resize :(
Sorry my SnS has turned into such a comedy of errors :(

The dress is absolutely darling!! Great job! As far as the pictures - I did the same thing the first time I added pics and it was just recently! In PhotoBucket, you can reduce to 50% and I think that was a good size. (I had ALOT of huge pictures on mine and went into a total panic!!)
