Are you wanting to make nursing pads? If so, flannel works great, some like hemp/cotton fleece, terry, or french terry, also some use cotton knit. If you are in need of smallish PUL scraps for nursing pads, I can dig some up and send them to you for postage. Just let me know :)

To be honest, I don't think that I have seen PUL for much less than that. Sometimes co-ops will come out at under $6, but not often. Usually $6-$8 is the right range for the standard PUL. If you do find it cheaper, make sure its the 2mil, breathable stuff. Sometimes you can find the 1mil, non-breathable around and its usually $5 a yard or so, but thats not as desirable for baby items. It works well for things like bibs, but not baby items.
I 2nd the idea of flannel for nursing pads.
