You made the coolest thing...talk about the ultimate felted bowl! You knitted, then felted a yurt! It was so cool too...had really intricate South American-looking patterns/pictures. Hadyn loved it :) Don't ask me where you got the washer big enough for a yurt though. That's part of the magic of dreams lol!

That is SO funny!!!! A YURT???? Wow, that would be a serious undertaking. Can you imagine the enormous size it had to be *before* it was felted!!!??? Yikes!!!

And, I'm sure Hadyn would have loved it. She's been making little hide-a-ways all over the garden this week. A yurt would be the ultimate in cool. ROFL

Hey...speaking of little hideaways in the yard....

Isabelle's been doing that, too, this week. She just read a book that I read (and LOVED) as a child. I had forgotten the name of it but by chance one of Isabelle's friends read it and told her about it. Once I had the title I HAD to get it. Hadyn would love it. It's about a boy (about 14yrs old) who runs away from home to live on his family land in the Catskill mountains. All he takes with him is a pen knife, string, an ax, and a flint and steel. He totally lives off the land and makes it through winter on his own. A really cool book.

About the yurt... I wish I could remember if you had gigantanormous circulars or used a whole lot of dpn's lol!

edited to add: on second though, aren't you guys vegetarians? In that book the boy does fish and hunt. Don't know if she'd find that disturbing or interesting but thought I'd mention it.

OH, we'll have to check it out! Our library has it, so I'll put it on hold. Just today, Hadyn asked how people make fire w/o matches. We had a long discussion on it. She was "making a fire" with all the weeds I pulled from the garden.

I just took this picutre today of her and Aslan (the cat) in one of her hide-a-ways. She got a hoe and cleared out the cave-like space inside the mock orange all by herself.

Yes, we're veggie, but by choice. We just don't really like meat. But, we have no problem with those that do eat it. We have a great respect for those who had/has to hunt for survival and can use most all the body parts for various needs.

Oh and just so you won't be left wondering, I would use a very large circular until the top decreases, then I would switch to sapling sized DPN. ROFL
