Hey there
Just wondering about haroset for a moment. I have always made mine more dessert-like with small chunks of apple, wine, cinnamon, nuts etc - but this year am making two versions, my usual and a 'clay' version since my friend was giving me grief last year that my haroset is not like mortar at all lol. So - do you use a food processor or blender if you're making a more spreadable haroset?

thanks. Hope you're all having a wonderful day. Our seder is actually tomorrow night since a friends wedding is tonight so I'll be spending today cleaning and doing any cooking I can do for tomorrow night.

I make a fig based one in the food processor...very much like mortar/paste. I think the fig one is yemenite and the apple one is ashkenazi.

If you need a recipe I can dig it up. I have too many food restrictions right now to do the food part of passover...*sigh*

I'd love the fig recipe. We had our Seder tonight. We make the haroset with the chunks of apple and raisins etc... but yeah it's not at all morter like though I had never really thought of that before.

Our recipe uses dried fruit (7 Fruit Haroset from Surinam) that you cook down to a thick sauce. It looks more like mortar to me than the apple chunks, but dear ils always complain...It is quite yummy, although it makes about a gallon and we never finish it. This year I cut the quantities and still doubt we will finish it.

I just participated in my first seder and I have to say it was the most beautiful thing ever. Every part of it just made me shed tears.
