I'm gone through all my pants patterns, and I always have to size up to a 4T and then take off length just to get them so they aren't busting at the back seam when my dd bends over and so the rise is high enough that she doesn't get plumbers butt. But then, they bag in the crotch and the legs are VERY wide at the top on her tiny stick legs.. which is okay for pants, but looks really dorky when I make shorts.

So I'm guessing it has something to do with shape. Anybody figured it out? Thanks,

My dd wears 2 or 3. What I do is trace the 2-3 and then add length in the rise . i take the waist right up to at least the 4T size. So it is reasonably trim but longer.
