I finally finished up the very last of these gowns and such. Today I produced one more bra and 2 floral gowns. I totally love this floral :) As mentioned in previous sns's these were made originally from seam ripping a Blue Canoe Jane Medium Plus bra then I redrafted the arm scicle to add sleeves and played with the under bust band to do a shirt prototype. When I was happy with that I was able to convert it into the perfect nursing gown (by my standards). The under bust band on a blue canoe bra that gives support is a hidden underlayer on the gown thereby giving you the same comfort and support of you BC bra but in a gown form (plus the sleeves because I usually feel more comfortable with upper arm coverage).

I need to go get some packages ready to ship to some expecting mamas and then post the other floral gown fs. Then the rest of my day will be cutting out NC baby outfits
Thanks for looking mamas,
Sarah

Beautiful. :flowerkit Wish I was your size, I'd snap up that gown! Did you actually take apart your BC bra, or just eyeball it? I don't think I have the guts to deconstruct my brand new bra. :drop:
ETA: duh, I see you *did* deconstruct it. Hats off to you!

Actually I asked for a volunteer sacrafice :) One of the expecting mamas sent me her bra, I didn't have the heart to do it to one of mine. I'm really glad I did take it apart though because there were definitely a few curves and such I didn't 'see'. I was super duper careful and was able to serge her bra back together for her- I just couldn't bear to see it go to waste.
Ginnings if I had the energy I would but I don't. I really need to stop getting sidetracked on the inspirations and finish up my to-do list before baby decides to make the grand entrance!

cute sara! I bought one with the intent to do that but never got around to it! Now my boobs are small enough that I wear the organic cami one and I bought a few through a coop. I would have loved to do a nightgown like that! Great idea. Perhaps I will seamrip the medium bra I have but never wear :)

Those look so cumfy! You are so talented!
Sarah, those look so comfy and snuggly! I have been so impressed with how methodically you are working through your list of things you want to have before the baby arrives. :) I bet you can't wait to be wearing those and snuggling with your newest little one.
Great work!

That bra is amazing, very RTW looking. I love how you made the bra pattern into gowns too, that's such a wonderful and unique idea.

Those are awesome! I also loved the gowns and bras that you LWI dyed! So you obviously like the blue canoe bra? I need a new nursing bra (well, my dd just weaned and I'm not even pregnant yet, but I can plan ahead!:)), so you recommend that one? Nice and comfy?
I want to ask about your edges on the bra, how did you finish them? Is that just turned under? And what kind of sewn edge is it? Coverstitch?

I've liked the Blue Canoe Jane Plus bras. I like the Plus better than the regular because you have a cup size larger (for nursing) compared to the band size, also the front crossover is reinforced with elastic so it bounces back when you tug on it all day with nursing. Definitely comfy and sufficiently supportive- not like an underwire or anything but it does the job.
The front crossover edge has 3/8" elastic serged on and then turned under and coverstitched over, other edges are just flipped under and coverstitched. I don't have a coverstitch machine but borrowed my mom's for this project when I ran out of twin needles. Typically I would just use my twin needle and that is sufficient (but the coverhem is soooo nice- I had promised myself I didn't need one................).

The nightgown pictured here is up for sale again by me. I purchased it, and it is very lovely but just a tad small for me. I'm asking what I paid for it, which is $40ppd. Just PM me if interested!
