It took hours, lol. Really, it took a long time, and was very labor intense. Not very many skippable parts. I like it, it came out really cute! But, there is one thing I would change- eliminate the butt flap. I am just not crazy about it. And, it would eliminate like half the steps, lol.
All in all, it was not a hard pattern- just lots of steps. The directions included were fairly good- I read them over a few times before I started. I also skipped the back leg elastic- I am just not crazy about it for a toddler boy.
Pics kinda suck, as I was just trying to snap them really fast, and he was not having it

Very cute outfit! I think the details make it, like your fussy cutting on the pockets. Great job!

I really wish I had a boy to make that for!!!!! I'm in love with the outfit, lol. But I wouldn't eliminate the butt flap - it's part of the reason I love it. I'm thinking I'll probably make it for the babe next summer, but I need to girly it up some (even in solid girly colors it doesn't look girly enough for me).
I love the fussy-cutting on the pockets - definately makes it look more professional! Did you use metal or plastic snaps on the butt?

Mary, I totally love the outfit. It is perfect! I agree with Jayme, and think the flap is cute ~ it wouldn't be the same without it. Although I haven't made it, lol. :D

I am thinking of making one for my niece in dark denim, with fuschia topstitching, and maybe an embroidery instead of the pockets. I think that will girly it up enough.
Snaps are plastic snaps, size 20

Great Job!!! I love it!
Great work - nice details and fussy cutting! It's very very awesome!!! You will get a ton of compliments on that one!
The back of the legs is great without the elastic!!!
The arse flap is cute! I would love some feedback on ease of changing dipes with it?
Thanks!!

That came out really cute Mary! I was going to make it without the butt flap and make a snap crotch instead. I just can't see the butt flap on Chloe.

I think it turned out AWESOME!!!! I probably would eliminate the *butt flap* as well...I wonder if one could put snaps in the crotch for easier dipe changes!

That is sooooo cute! I kinda like the flap! I think it could also be very cute on a girl. Maybe keep the leg elastic, or add a little fabric ruffle around the legs. Then the collar could also be changed to a rounded collar, like a peter pan I think it's called. Anyways, just for all you making it for girls, I think it would be super cute!

That's really cute! I love all the details...well worth your hard work.

It's cute with the butt flap, but I thought it was a little odd when I saw it in the magazine. I'd have probably left it off. I wanted to make that for a gift. About how long did it take you?

Thank you all! He wore it to the zoo today, and looked so cute! I think he needs a plain khaki one for the zoo now though, to be a zookeeper
Diaper changing is really easy! I had to change him right after I put it on him, and it just unsnaps altogether, and you pull the flap to the front. Very easy!
Tara, yes, I did order a bit of the ribbon from Serena, I had forgotten about that! I can paypal shipping, or we could plan a playdate at the zoo if you'd like.

I started around 10:30 ish, and had to stop twice to nurse a fussy toddler, who has decided not to sleep through anymore. I finished around 1am, except for the snaps, I put those on this morning. But, I think a second one will go much quicker, and even faster still with no butt flap.
Oh, the other thing, it is somewhat short- well, falls at the knee, which is fine, but I like Ty's shorts a little longer than that. It is sooo cute though!
