Hee. Nichole, it is so funny for me to hear about your neverending Jack lurve. I lived a short distance from Detroit for the last 11 years, so I got to get on the White Stripes train pretty early. We went to see them years ago at a tiny club in Detroit. I was pressed up against the stage and Jack was wearing these super tight, red, polyester pants and kept dripping sweat all over my arm and it was so.gross. That's all I can think of when I read your posts about what a hottie he is. I must admit that he is MUCH hotter now that he's kind of gone a little country, which is strange because I don't like most country music.

Hmmm....maybe it depends on if you're over or under 30!
Well, I am over 30 (sshhhhhh!!!)..a bit..but I got started late on anything beyond top 40 stuff...I listened to music with my sister and our friends, and they never quite got my taste for things not quite center stage. I used to gravitate towards the slightly alternative stuff, but never really got into it til recently, mostly cause I stopped listening to radio about 10 years ago, and anything I found after that was through dh, usually, and while he is not top 40 bubble gum by any means, who is DEF not my style! LOL
He refuses to let me play WS at all within his earshot, and he thinks a lot of my other stuff is just stupid...Thank God for earphones and mp3 players! LOL
To me, music is so personal, and means so much to me, that I can't handle listening to it around people who don't like it, cause it feels like it hurts ME...even if that has nothing to do with it.
Well, that went a little OT! My point was, Jack is HAWT, in a way that Robert Smith just isn't! IMNSHO!!

I get what you mean mama! It is so personal and deep! Thinking of Robert Smiths hotness brings me back to a different time, lol...it just puts me in a mood, ya know. and ita w/ murali about music... i was so much more in to it pre dh & kids, went to shows, bought Cds..then i kinda put it on the back shelf. then i heard the WS & something just clicked. then i saw Cold Mountian & jw as georgia & that was it...lol his voice had me hooked. ~

Yeah, Cold Mountain set it all off for me....
I had been hearing the name White Stripes for a while, but for some reason, I was thinking it was this band from the 80's, regenerated. Beyond thinking good for them, they are still hanging on, I pretty much ignored them.
Then I saw Cold Mountain, saw Georgia, looked him up, and was THAT'S the White Stripes??? I was so mad I had been missing out for so long! LOL I downloaded some music to get a feel for what they were about, and OMG, it was like a whole new world was opened up for me. I was interested in actively listening to music again, rather than just the random thing that I happened to like, which was what my playlists had been up to then..
The fact that Jack is unbelievably unbelievable is just a HUUUUGE side bonus! LOL

THANK You! Did you see The Cure on "Icon" recently? Ahhhh! I saw them in concert, 1992...what a great show!
I don't know "Jack" about Jack White other than he went out with Renee Zellwegger last year or something like that? Read it in a "goss" mag! LOL May or may not be true...I do love their music. DH, who is a musician, HATES them and pokes fun at the simple basslines and instrumental playing all of the time, says our 2.5 yr old plays more sophisticated drums, but I still like them...I like it simple! ROFL Musicians can be such "snobs".
Y'know who my new crush is? Well, I have 2 actually...Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and well, not really a "crush" because I don't have the "hots" for any of them, but I am nuts for their music, "The Killers"...love em! I also love me some "Queens of the Stone Age"

Ain't that the truth! Dh is a musician, and refuses to even listen to them, to get past the initial impression, and actually hear the music! I don't give a d**n about technical brilliance, or whatever (though Jack is), I just care if the music affects me and makes me feel or not...

It was just he and Meg, when people still believed they were brother and sister. Jack used to do upolstering with this person I worked with. She said "He was always such a nice boy, but so...shlubby".
I used to have the biggest crush on Robert Smith, too. I remember seeing them after Wish came out and I was SO mad at my mom because she wouldn't let me wear black lipstick, lol. I put it on in the bathroom after we got to that show and snuck clove cigs with some little pasty goth boy.

When I saw them, Jack had to go and tell Meg every time she was going to have a drum change. He would walk over and kind of shout "change" and she'd do the chorus beat or whatever was coming next. It was funny.
Doesn't the Jack/Beck stuff show up on the new Beck album? I need to get my mitts on that album post haste. Beck is a new papa, too. Very sexy.
I just read in my trashy gym mag that Renee is dating someone else-Damien Rice I think. She kind of squeebs me out. Something about her bony bony shoulders...

Now I gotta go look up Damien Rice....Isn't it too soon for her to be getting over Jack!?!?! She is supposed to be making her way back to him, dammit!
I like Renee, too, and was so happy that two people I really liked were together....it makes me feel better about the fact that there isn't a chance in Heck that I will ever be in her position! LOL Even if the sky fell down, and Jack actually did want to have anything to do with me, I still love my dh too much to leave him....darn it! ;)
Yeah, I was trying to figure out what the new Beck album was that Jack worked on, but I couldn't find any mention of Jack, so I was not sure which one I needed to look for.
I wish people would leave Meg alone...she brings her own energy and dynamic to the group, and they wouldn't be the same without her. Sure, there are plenty of people who could drum as well or better than her, but they wouldn't be her, and they wouldn't have the influence she does over Jack.

Beck   Definately my first love before Jack. I haven't seen him since his Midnight Vultures tour waaaay back when I lived in Austin. I saw his Odelay tour in Portland loooong before that. gosh I am old. I saw his new cd in STARBUCKS of all places :shake: the other day and if I had had a few extra bucks I would have picked it up. I have pp though and I am going to use it to pay for an itunes copy. They were playing jack and loretta in their rotation though so it was cool. Hey, I like those Smoosh girls...it will be interesting to hear them in the coming years as their voices mature, and they become confident in theirselves. Oh, and how much ya wanna bet you don't hear all the b*tching you hear about WS that they only have two members???
They are what you call talent carried over from their last life...
I am going to have fun looking up all these bands...I had a browse for the Killers last night, and realized I had seen one of their videos before, and I like them; I just wish I could hear his voice through the music a bit more. I really have a thing for voices, and his sounds nice! LOL
Got those files, thanks, Nic...

oh yeah baby! I am going to the Pixies on May 27. And I am going to Gang of Four (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) on May 5!) I guess this is OT, but oh well. I am so excited I can hardly handle it!
I'm SO jealous  Hopefully they'll make it up this way again before Frank Black and Kim Deal are at each others throats

Where in Washington are you? They are playing 4 shows that weekend here. I can't imagine they won't be going up north. (we are in pdx) Of course Frank lives here so maybe that is why they are playing so much here. But if you can make it to p-town and if they aren't sold out (we got our tickets 5 minutes after they went on sale - we are true blue fans) then it may be worth the trip.
I am crossing my fingers that my doula clients have their baby before the May 5 Gang of Four show. I want to be able to tip a few back, but I can't if I am on call!

I'm in Tacoma, it seems like they played Bumbershoot last Sept. I'll have to check it out. We just got back from a week in Portland, took the train down...we had a great time!

von bondies! that BAD jason....given' jack a bad rap ..lol ~
Ha! That's so funny. Jason used ot be a friend of mine when we lived in Ann Arbor. The thought of he and Jack White duking it out is just about the funniest thing ever. Jason probably weighs 135lbs soaking wet. I still can't believe he's a famous person now. I hear their music on Chevy ads and things and am just AMAZED! He used to come see MY band play!!! I should be the rock star dammit, lol.
Edited because I have serious spelling problems.

sounds like you had a fun time in Mi.!!
personally, i don't know any real facts...lol but i have read jack's side & to me it is the most believeable. jason just seems like he is aching to be famous, kwim? hey ~ give him a call & get the scoop..lol ;)
the only rocker i knew was Jason Thirsk ..he was in Pennywise & unfortunately is no longer w/ us :tear: he was my best friends boyfriend, so we hung out often, partied, etc...

Oh, I'm not trying to defend Jason in any way, lol. I'm sure he wants to be famous! He was always one of those kids that was super nice to you until he found someone cooler to hang out with. The last time I saw him was at-hey-that White Stripes show (years before the big kerfuffle). The Von Bondies were already getting big and he could barely spare 2 words for me. Annoying. I wanted to ask if he remembered when the biggest venue he could book was his own living room. His older brother Eric's band-The Elevations-blow the Von Bondies out of the water as far as I'm concerned. It's strange who gets picked up and who doesn't.
Yeah, Detroit/Ann Arbor had a great music scene for a while. I'm trying to think of other interesting tidbits. Once I went bowling with Mark Arm from Mudhoney on my birthday. And I used to live with the singer and guitarist from The Laughing Hyenas, but I'm not sure how big they got nationally. They kick booty though.
