Not quite the mississippi backwaters but dern close. These pools are man-enhanced, not entirely man-made and a resting area for the sandhill crane's migration.

We actually sited one today. We all got so excited we scared him off in moments. LOL. Still, we saw him. Actually it may be a her. We haven't completed final marking identification. ;)

The photos are grainy and I used paint to blow them up. I was ill prepared with my camera today. You get the idea tho. :)

Here you can see how the "pools" are diked to hold water. We're in se mn and just 10 miles or so from the mississippi.

2nd shot shows the expanse of 1 pool.

And Madison cuz people shots are fun.
