I appliqued a shirt today, and when the stablizer was in place my machine kept skipping stitches! I was using sew-in interfacing from JA's to stablize. So does this mean it'll do that with every stablizer???

What kind of fabric were you using? My favorite stabilizer is the perforated stuff, it works so well for me on just about any kind of fabric.

I was appliqueing a woven onto a knit. I'll have to get the perforated stuff then, thanks for the tip!

I like the perforated, too. Also, mine does that when I'm trying to applique w/ the wrong needle. Fiddly machine I have. :o
You probably already figured this out, but spray adhesive will make appliqueing (sp?) your woven onto a knit *MUCH* easier & less shifty.

Thanks Julia :) I haven't tried spray adhesive so I'll get some. What needle should I be using? Right now I'm using a universal.

I think you already finished it but I wanted to say that I use an embroidery needle - very fine. Spray-on definitely makes life *much* easier! I clean my needle with alcohol after each use (when I use the spray-on adhesive), it keeps the gunk off the needle and allows more uses.

I really like the HTCW easy tear or whatever that perforated stuff is from JoAnns. I use it for way more than just embroidering. It is good for buttonholes too.
I really don't like spray adhesive though, I prefer ironing appliques on with wonderunder.
