it barely works, like I have to turn off the machine, turn it back on and then kinda twist the cord to the perfect position and it can't be moved or it won't work, lol. Anybody ever bought a bernina artista foot pedal?? I'm cringing at what the price could be, lol. I'm guessing it's $300-$400.

Bummer! :( I did a quick search at allbrands.com for the foot pedal on Bernina machines. I don't know your machine model #, but you should check it out. Maybe it's not as much as you think. ;)

Good luck!

Do you have an electrician handy? It may just need its wires reattached at the pedal or something.

If you're anywhere near Amarillo, I own one (electrician, not machine LOL) that I could probably loan you long enough to figure out if it's fixable... Just a thought, as he's fixed lots of our stuff that got the 'funky cord thang' without me having to go out and buy new ones. Or maybe your local sewing machine repair shop would look at it?? Just a thought. Parts & pieces for these things are *so* darned expensive.

Yeah, my dh spliced in a new cord on a previous sewing machine I had, my new puppy had chewed the wire back then to the foot control, but that was a $400 machine, this sucker was over $3k and the thought of having my hubby fix it is kinda scary this time, lol. Plus he's out of the country for awhile longer. My mom is bringing me her foot pedal to use for a couple of weeks on Wednesday.

Yipes! Spendy machine...I'd either find myself a "real" 'lectrician or better yet, a sewing shop that you can hold liable if they screw it up completely. :D

OTOH, if you're going to have to buy a whole new one anyhow...what do you lose by having someone (who pretty much knows what they're doing so they don't blow up the machine) see if they can fix it... Just a thought.

In any case, what an absolutely *frustrating* problem. Glad your mom has one you can use...hope you find some resolution that costs less than $400...that could *really* cut into a girl's fabric budget! :drop:

Good luck!

Wholesale on it is $76, so it is going to be $150 retail.

Do you want me to order you one? I can get it dropped shipped to you since it is so much. Not sure what shipping would be, $5 - $6 or so.

ETA: Allbrands has a good price ($102). They order from the same place I do, even has the same part number.
