My dh has been begging me to dye my hair black. I'm naturally a blonde with almost no eyebrows! I don't want to look like Marilyn Manson!!! :shake:

Looks like you have red in your hair .. so any auborn or black with red in it will turn it sort of purplish red looking. Personally i think you would look better with brown hair then black hair, just becayse of your light hair color to begin with. If your hubby is just wanting it to be darker .. go with Feria Crystal Brown perhaps ( my personal fav.. when i was younger thats what i died my hair and for me it was my same hair color but made it sparkle a little. ( or go with a brown first to see if he and you like it darker ... then go darker then that later)

I was thinking the same thing about going brown first. Then I found a color at the store called "cola" which is a soft black. I was all set to do it this afternoon, then I had to go pick up my dh early. I guess we'll see if I chicken out, lol!

hey now whats wrong with manson? tee hee, i personally think everyone looks great with black hair (myself included) but i think your facial features would look great with an auburn (people who are blonde and look great blonde, like you, look really good with red/auburn hair)

I've gone strawberry blonde before, and I loved it. I'd love to try a really bright auburn though. I'm going to try to find that makeover site that lets you try different looks to see if maybe I should cut my hair too. I have vowed to never have another perm, but I might get daring with the cut. I guess I feel like doing something drastic. I have been so "natural" for the last ten years, and I'm ready for a change.

branwyn~ * shivers * Yes, i think some people do look great with black hair, but others just do not look right. KWIM .. its like their hair is not an attached part of themselves. Like Kevin's Oldest her hair seems like its not a part of her.

Manson has his hair professionally done .. and they probubly choose the black color very carefully, because black has sooooo many different shades .. and the reaction to one persons hair could be totally different to someone elses hair that looks like the same shade or just because its a different batch.

My mom gets her hair done professionally and she has like 4 -5 different colors in her hair all at once she has a base color of a brown and then has peices of red, deep red, blonde, and .. heck who knows eery time i see her its totally different *lol* .. i just have gotten used to it. If she styled her hair differently she would look like a punk rocker, but she does it in a traditional way so it looks just really bright and cheery, so a new hair cut along with a dye it would looks totally different and AWSOME!!

Of course i could never do it .. i love my long hair and i tried getting it cut .. i got 13 inches cut and bangs .. after a month i was sick of bangs because they started doing buckwheat type things *lol*KWIM My mother always tries to get my hair cut and blah blah blah .. and my grandmother as well .. and i feel comfortable with my self as i am, not to mention every time i did get my hair cut i was very unhappy with the results.

OHHH BTW When you do get new hair color .. you might want to go through your makeup and change it up a little bit .. just a different eye shadow or lip stick will make the whole new look just pop!!

Yep, I went out and got some black and darker colored shirts at Kmart for a buck fifty apiece PLUS 25% off, which a steal. Then I found some wine colored lipstick, and my SIL gave me some nice black mascara. I like a natural look for my makeup, so I don't think I'll go too nuts in that area.

I did the makeover thing with a couple different styles and colors. I can't figure out how to save the pics to my computer though. I found out that it won't look too bad to go with black, though my skin looks more natural with my current color or an auburn. It'll be fun though to go black for a while...what do you do about the roots though, Bran?

no you can totally do it again - i would wait about 36 hours to give your scalp a rest but your hair wont fall out :)

I agree about my eyes. They always looked so gray before, and now the blue stands out more....dh will be happy. He has a thing for women w/ dark hair and blue eyes.

I went out and got a pkg. of Loreal's color spa in "espresso". It doesn't have ammonia so it'll wash out after a month or so, but I didn't want to risk more damage to my hair. It covered all the missed spots really well and turned out darker than the sweet cola. I REALLY like it...wearing my hair in braids today w/ a purplish lipstick. My skin looks so good lately that I don't "need" any foundation, and I just put a bit of mascara on so my eyelashes don't look weird with such a dark color.

It's going to be strange to be putting mascara on all the time, but I think it's worth it. I don't feel so frumpy anymore. :D

I was considering using henna to dye it, but I ended up not wanting to wait for it to be shipped to me since I can't get it anywhere around here. I'll have to try feria next time. I really liked the color spa...it was easy and had plenty of dye for my hair, and it FEELS awesome!
