She just posted to the group she has leather scraps $1.50/lb and 4 or 5 colors of leather for around $2.50/ sq ft I think. I've gotten some of it and it's nice.

Becky has a pattern too. I think it is $10. I've only made one pair so far but they fit my son really well.

I just buy suede skirts and coat from the thrift store. I see them new all the time with tags still on them and even the ones that don't are hardly worn at all. It takes more than you'd think, so look for larger pieces like long skirts and coats. I've also used wool flannel/felt and fleece. I really like the fleece shoes with just the suede for the soles.
