View Full Version : Maryland Homeschooling Conference
Is anyone else going to the MHEA conference on 4/30? John Taylor Gatto is speaking there, and some of the seminars look pretty cool. If you're going, post here and maybe we can meet up.

Tara - We're in Maryland, but April 30th is Jacob's 6th birthday party. Where is the conference being held?
Lisa,
I think it is either in Columbia, but I'm not certain. Here is the website: http://www.mhea.com

Tara, I'm thinking about going. I'm supposed to have company that weekend, but I may be able to still make it happen. Plus seeing you makes me want to make it work even more! :)
Let me know if you decide to come down for it!!
I'm on the other side of MD, (*very* southern MD), so I probably wouldn't help much to offer my place to stay ... but if you want to make the hike, you're more than welcome :)

oh, i just saw that it's actually in Annapolis, which is much closer to me (than Columbia) ... it's just about an hour and a half away. Cool!

I'm in MD, and would love to go, I'll have to see if I can make it and I'll let you know, I am on MD's Eastern Shore.

Now I'm going to have to angle to convince dh to let us come on his trip to Annapolis that weekend.

I'm not planning on going but we could house someone who is. I'm in Laurel (about 25 minutes to Annapolis).
:flowerkit woohoo!
I plan to drive down the night before and stay overnight in a local motel...otherwise I'd need to leave around 5am on Saturday morning. Rob and Sam are probably going to come, but they plan to spend the day in DC at one of the museums while I am at the conference. It's been about 2 years since my last HS conference, and I remember how invigorated I felt afterwards, so I'm looking forward to this! Definitely edit your posts here if you decide to go, maybe we can make a meetup time/place.
Christine! :) I would love to see you guys. I've been thinking about you.

After the conference, you're all welcome to come to Jacob's birthday party. :D It's a really casual cookout or cookin (depending on the weather). We live fairly near Christine and not too far from Annapolis. We're in Charles County - in the corner that's close to St Mary's, Calvert, and PG counties.
I'm serious! Jacob would love it and so would I!

Amber, I didn't realize you were so close. We really should try to meet up again sometime.
Tara, I'll PM you when the date gets closer and we can figure out how to meet up. Hopefully I'll be leaving Ethan with Kevin and will just have Noey with me. I'd so love to see you again!
Lisa, I can't believe we haven't had a chance to meet yet. I saw your name on a group email about the Roots and Shoots group that's starting up and I was curious if I'd see you at the meeting ... are you and your kids going to participate? We're planning to :)

Is that Ronda's group in Mechanicsville? Yes, we'll be at the meeting this Friday! We missed the first one because Chris and I were in New York.
I hope this is the same group, we're really excited about it and would love to finally meet you!

Lisa, yup, that's it. We'll be there too, horray! We're really excited about it as well. It seem like it has some great potential.
Tara, sorry for hijacking your thread :)
Hijack away, I'm just excited that we might all be able to meet up at the conference. :) Some of my IRL homeschooling mama friends are also going to be there. I'm excited about the unschooling bent to this conference.
