OMG, I'm so emotional! I didn't know what to do with them, they were simple baby clothes, lots of t's and pants, pj's, a few dresses. I couldn't bear to drop them in the goodwill collection bin. A sweet foster mom I met on freecycle just picked them up, she's currently caring for a 1 yo, 3 yo & 5 yo and they're getting a newborn tomorrow. The kids arrive with nothing but the clothes they're wearing and have to leave with a whole wardrobe. She told me how much $ they get to buy the clothes, ummm, holy cow, you couldn't buy everything at walmart, let alone somewhere nicer. The list was enough for about 10 days of not doing laundry plus coat & shoes. They take in newborn to age 9 and they're all from homes where the kids were sexually abused :( Poor babies!

So I have someone to pass everything along to now, she was really appreciative of the 4 bags I gave her today. I have a new group to donate teddy bears to also, she said the kids never have any toys and she usually takes each new arrival to the store to pick out a special toy that's just for them. She takes used toys too but I think the bears will be very much loved. She has a little network of other foster parents and they share clothes, toys, carseats & stuff.

I just had to share, it was dumb to be so attached to the clothes I made but they're not doing anyone any good saved in a box for years, lol. DH just doesn't get why I was all sappy.

that's awesome!

I have a box labeled "special clothes from erin" and it has about 5 items in it that won't be passed on to the baby. But everything else I try really hard not to get attached to.

You nut ball! ;) But I totally understand....

We've found a similar family here to donate to. Hispanic family with 8 children. Daddy was injured very badly about a year ago and can no longer work. Mom is doing the best she can to meet basic needs, but there is nothing leftover. They receive regular toy donations from our children, as well as clothing and such. There is a church that has also taken these people under their wings, so to speak.

I completely understand as well Michelle. I pass along Summers clothes to my best friends little girl Layla. But I have yet to pass along a single outfit I made....lol I have every intention, but can't bring myself to throw it in the bag with the rest.

That was so sweet of you!
It's disgusting how little money foster parents are given to clothe the kiddos with. :shake: I couldn't believe it when I found out.
