We will be HS Ds at the end of this school year. What can I do or should I do to prepare him and de-school him.
BTW - he is all on board for it and we will start with 1st grade material and go from there.

I would set up a loose structure to your day... not necessarily a schedule but just a general flow... like after breakfast do chores (he is with you helping, the goal being that he can do certain chores on his own in a few months) after chores is some structered play (keep it simple but just have him work with you on some activity, maybe making cookies, or designing thank you cards the idea is that this time will eventually be "school" time) then lunch, then free time, then quiet time (we encourage books for this time) etc..
I would make sure there were plenty of books, craft supplies, and open ended toys available to him at all times. I would also encourage him to come up with ideas for the "structured activities" and allow him to lead and direct the path of learning
