I got mine in the mail the other day. I have only been able to skim through it. Hopefully I can sit down and actually look through/read it this weekend. It looked good though. :thumbsup:

Honestly, I started to buy it once & then put it down because of all the diet product ads. Kind of mixed messages, IMO. Kind of like Mode and their size-12 models (and explaining it away as "models are always smaller than most women"). I'll stick with hunting for BBW, I think.

Hmm...I like the idea of seeing clothing on normal sized ppl. I'm a size 14 now..with my flappy belly probably going to stay that way, since my thyroid is controlled with meds.

Oh I'm interested in the group too Branwyn! Though I have to be upfront and say I am losing weight ...it is primarily for health reasons though. Though I'll never be a size 2 and have no desire to be. :) Not knocking anyone who is, it's just not my body type and I'd have to starve myself to get there.

Just because I'm on, I will answer. I haven't had a hysterctomy, so I can only speculate on a couple of things.

First of all, you really don't look big to me. Next, is there any affect upon your constitution, if you use a Natural Progesteron Cream and a Wild Yam supplement?? These are the only two things that I would think would be a real plus. I went off my NPC just before Dr. Pais put me on my constitutional remedy and I really am missing the positive effects, as in "being dry" and low libido.

I've done the plus-size activist thing off & on for years; I still will go off on a "society's ideal" rant at the slightest provocation. :D I was pretty active in Mode's old forums & there was lots of complaining about their models' size. Then Mode disappeared & turned into something else (I forget what) and then that disappeared, & I really think Figure is their latest incarnation, TBH. The magazine I picked up, I really think it was about a year ago, the front cover was all "big is beautiful" and the back cover was an ad for Atkins breakfast bars. :rolleyes:

MODE went bankrupt and then another editor put out GRACE. they recently went bankrupt (last october i believe)
i understand what you are saying about the ads, BUT unfortunately they have to pay their bills like anyone else and unfortunately most of the advertising world will not advertise in a plus sized magazine - they are not ready for it. one of the reasons the other magazines went bankrupt was bc of lack of advertising support. dealing with what my wellness center is going thru with funding, i understand sometimes having to swallow your pride and take on advertisers you would rather not take on.

i just wanted to post, i went thru the jan/feb issue of figure (the only one i have onhand) and the only diet add in the entire thing is on the inside back cover and its for diet hansons soda. all of the ads are for clothing stores or make up...

Ive never seen the mag,not sure if we have it in canada? I would be very interested in joining with other Mamas of size for discussion and support..
