We finally ordered a juicer and it arrived last Friday. Well today I finally got around to trying it out.

So I made some pear/apple/carrot juice for DS and I this morning....and it was so yummy!!!

Anyone else juice? Want to share a favorite "recipe"? :)

Congrats on getting a juicer. I go in spurts using mine. Our def. favorite is apple/carrots. I have even snuck in a tomato. For me, I LOVE cumcumber juiced with a slice of lemon...sometimes I will add grapes too. It is so refreshing on a hot day or when you are tired and need a pick me up.
Have fun. I think the only thing that prevents me from doing it every day is the mess. I had a friend that paid a kid down the street to come over and do all of their juicing for the day. :) lol

I really like mine too. I don't always get it out either. It depends on how I'm doing in my kitchen otherwise...If the sink's empty, I'm much more likely to use the juicer, KWIM?

I like to mix up cocktails if I am feeling like I am getting sick--carrot, celery, broccoli stems, tomato, and garlic(Garlic, I think, is the key). Any other veggie you have about can go in too! I put a beet in yesterday, and it was all still good. I love carrot juice plain. DH and my oldest DS love granny smith juice.

Happy juicing!!!

We just got our juicer recently :cuc: This morning we made a great combo of kale/carrot/parsely/apple/cucumber/celery and ginger. It was so tasty, dh and ds loved it.

I just got one, and it's just sitting on the counter, mocking me. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to figure out how to use it. I am excited, though.

LOVE my juicer!!! my mom juiced my dad back to health in the late 70's through the 80's (long story). so when ds could find no releif for excema i borrowed her juice book and bought a juicer.

now all of us drink fresh veggie juice-- about 16oz a day. our favoite is carrot, spinach, parsley, apple. but we will juice just about anything nice and green and add carrots and apples to make it more palatable. the key with the 'stronger' flavors is to drink it right away. plus you get all those live enzemes.

benefits we have seen are: better sleep/waking more rested, more regular bowel movements (key to clearing excema ), and better skin tone....plus dh and i each dropped a few much needed pounds.

Oh wow...so celery is okay to juice? I figured since it's so stringy that it wouldn't juicer well.

Can anyone recommend any good books with yummy and healthy recipes?

I have a vitamix and haven't actually "juiced" anything. We make smoothies mainly. I'd love to know some good juicing books too.

Celery is a strong flavor so be careful what you use it with. I know my vitamix will have no problems with it, so I can't help you there.

I agree with the comment, if you are making something with strong flavors, drink it fast. We've made smoothies that were okay to drink when they were first made but as they set, they became too strong to drink.
