How do you cook. I thought I might go for it, especially with DS and DD (in the future). How do you plan a meal when one person wants meat?

What are some things that I could make that would make him feel like he was having meat (veggie chili etc)?

Does your dh insist on eating meat at dinner, etc?
My dh eats meat & I have been a vegetarian since I was a teen. I have a no-meat rule in the house. Dh does not mind at all. He *does* like adding fake meat products to meals (for instance, using vegetarian hamburger crumbles for making chili, boca burgers are a fave, there are fake chicken products that I use to make pancit, etc) He thinks that many of the fake meat products taste just like the real think so he likes them. he doesnt need them though.

My thinking is that dh eats out at work nearly every day - if he wants meat he can get all he wants then. I also do not stop him from eating meat when we go out to restraunts. So there isn't any reason why he shouldn't eat veggie at home. :)

(He actually told me he would go veggie if I cooked more indian food & sent it to work with him - can you believe I havent done it??? How lazy am I? LOL)

We don't have meat in the house either, but I think the fact that I've been I vegetarian longer than we've known each other makes a difference. He knew from the start that I didn't want meat in the house and is fine with it. I just try to make foods he likes, so he doesn't miss meat at all. He does eat it when he's out.

Well. I'm a veg, Raynbow (13) is a veg, DH and Robyn and River are carnivores. So this is what I cook. example. Pork chops and rice for carnivores. rice and veggie except Raynbow doesn't like rice, so sometimes I make her something different. Burritoes-all eat veg. Baked potatoes for all maybe meat for DH as a side.
Pasta-everyone has a different topping-garlic and olive oil for me tomatoe for Raynbow, plain for Robyn, River and DH what ever I feel like as DH doesn't like tomatoe sauce. I probably make meat dish 4 days a week, DH cooks on weekends and is great about cooking veg for us.
So I guess what I'm saying is I make meat, and then Raynbow and I just have the non-meat portions of the meal ie potatoes, rice, pasta etc.

I'm the only total vegetarian in our home. (well, I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian.....but just barely since I hardly eat eggs/dairy but I can't claim being a strict vegetarian)

Anyway, when it is cooked in our house, it is meatless. My dh and children will order meat when we eat out, which is only when we travel or for a special occasion like a birthday.

Seitan is a excellent "meat" like substitute. It is actually wheat gluten. My dh loves Seitan as a fajita. We also use Seitan in chili, soups etc.......there are also many recipes out there for using Seitan.

Tofu is another one but it does not compare to being "meat-like" the way Seitan does.

I won't cook dh meat but if he wants to cook it for himself that's fine w/ me . He never cooks stinky stuff in the house though , only on the barby.

When you figure it out, lmk. Not only does my dh intend to always eat meat. He refuses veggies. PITA.
