I tried doing what my manual said, but it came out nothing like it's supposed too. So, what settings do you do? TIA!!! :hug:

well.. every machine is different I'm sure, but I just learned how to do it on my machine.. so I'll tell you what I do

first, make sure your stretch is going the right direction... you should be able to stretch it the same way you are feeding it through the serger.

drop the knife, move the stitch finger back to rolled hem position..
my manual doesn't say to put the knife back up, but I do it anyway because I like to cut.. makes me feel like it's coming out cleaner..

Then, I have a rolled hem setting switch.. not sure if it does anything though *LOL*

I turn my differential feed ALL the way down. I turn my stitch length almost all the way down also.

I increase the lower looper thread tension .. I put mine on like a 7 or 8 but you'll have to play... and loosen the upper looker a bit

the basic jist is that you don't really want to see that lower looper thread at all. You want it's tension to pull the upper looper thread all the way around the edge so it looks "rolled" around the fabric from one side to the other.

Then, when I start serging, I pull in front with my right hand and with my left, I use my thumb and pointer finger to sort of stretch out the knit there too as it pases under the knife and needle. Sometimes I stretch a little from the back if it seems to not want to feed through nicely so it doesn't get jammed in one spot too long.. but usually that's not a problem. Just stretch stretch stretch.

Then, even if it doesn't look like enough wavy stuff.. steam it a little and youll start to see it more.

Is it possible to do a lettuce edge or rolled hem (not exactly sure the difference) without a serger?

I do lettuce edges on my regular sewing machine. It just takes longer than a serger would.

Set your machine to do a close zig zag (satin stitch) and stretch the heck out of it as you sew along the edge of the fabric.

I go over the hem about three times to get it looking smooth. (the stitches looking smooth, not the hem)

Thank you. I tried it once and it didn't lettuce enough, but I had gone over the hem only once. Next time I'll go around more times. I really like the look, and would be tickled if I could get it.
