Does anyone do this with your family? I am interested in beginning this tradition, but would love to hear how other families do this, or book suggestions. Thanks!

not meetings, but we have made friday night "family night" LOL ~ kinda redundant since we are together every other night too ;)

BUT ~ it means we eat a special meal & either play games or watcha family flick all together, kwim? we try to make it fun too w/ a picnic while we watch the movie, etc...

the kids like it & so do we, maybe we'll evolve to meetigns when everyone is older..lol ~ i do like the idea.

We do Family Nights by Jim Weidmann I think. It is a Christian book, so it's definitely not for everyone. There are a bunch of fun activities to do with your family to get a point across to the kids.

One example is sitting all your kids down at the kitchen table, each with a tube of toothpaste and telling them to get ALL the toothpaste out of the tube. They look at you like you're crazy then have fun squeezing all the toothpaste out :) Then you tell them to get all of the toothpaste back IN. You explain to them how it's easy to say words that may be hurtful, gossipy, whatever,... but it's impossible to take them back. We did this a while ago, so I'm not sure I'm explaining it exactly but the ones we've done have been fun.
