I have a 3 yo and a 20 mo both of whom nursed up until a couple months ago when it dramatically tapered off. I'm probably guilty of helping the process along - it was really wearing on my nursing them both and I should have just weaned the 3 yo instead of discouraging nursing and I'm really sad about that. Anyway, my 20 mo lost interest in nursing and was only nursing once ever couple days However, this past week, she has a newfound interest and asks for it just about every day and I freely nurse when she asks. My problem is that because I've nursed so little, my supply is about zilch. I desperately want to continue nursing my 20 mo but she's frustrated by my lack of supply. Is there anything I can do? I know nursing more but while she wants to nurse, she'll only do it for a minute or two then get frustrated that there isn't enough milk. Please help - I'm so committed to nursing her, I just don't know what to do???

Just keep letting her nurse when she wants. Drink lots of water. Consider getting some Mother's Milk tea. Eat oatmeal for breakfast for a while. And relax. I know, easier said than done. See if any of that will help.

This is just all off the top of my head. You might want to check La Leche League (http://www.lalecheleague.org/) and/or breastfeeding.com (http://www.breastfeeding.com) for additional ideas & support.

I was going to suggest the mother's milk tea. Your supply should come back if she wants to nurse every day. Good luck!

i agree w/ the pps.

heck, you could even try an sns in addition.... put some rice milk, or whatever in it, use the littlest tubing size and let her nurse away...
