www.upromise.com
I signed up for this through our grocery store today for John. (Emma has college paid for through other funds set up following her father's death.)
Do you have the credit card that gives you 1% back? Is it worth getting?
Tell me what you know...

I use Upromise but we don't have the card. I have heard from people that they use it for everything and then pay it off every month and they have alot of $ in there. I just won't get any more credit cards.

I have one credit card, but have no interest in getting another, so I don't have the UPromise one. We do have the regular UPromise savings thing though...where you get small amounts of money for grocery shopping, etc. It's just a little here and there, but over 18 years will (hopefully) add up a bit. :)

We use UPromise, but we don't have the card. I am doing more online shopping than ever right now & I figure if I have to shop this way I may as well get something for it no matter how small it is. kwim?

I am getting bunches back through upromise.. some that I don't even REALIZE. I linked all my bankcards and my cc's to upromise- but I don't have theirs. I also hooked up ALL my grocery store cards (I have like 5- two that I use frequently.. the others I only use when there is something really good on sale).
Last year when we got a huge crack in our windshield, I called my insurance co to get a name to repair it.. I paid using my bank card.. turned out they were a upromise account and I ended up getting $40 deposited into my account! I had no clue!!
Definitely sign up for all that you can. If you can handle a credit card and definitely pay it off every month, they you should do it.. but if there is even a chance you can't pay it back- I would NOT do it.. the interest rate is likely higher than the 1% you would be getting back yk? Not worth it!!
hth!

Yeah, right now we have a credit card that we put everything on and pay in full each month. This sounds so terrible, but it's the Disney Card and earns us Disney Dollars, which we use to buy our annual passes each year. The customer service is bad, though, and they keep imposing more and more restrictions on how you can get the money back. So, we were thinking of switching and this seemed interesting to us.

I earned 17 cents this quarter! :joker: Seriously, I don't know why. I guess b/c we never use credit cards. We use bank cards all the time though. What exactly is a grocery card? I saw that option, but was  .

I have my bank card/debit cards hooked up too. .so I earn on them.
grocery cards are those little plastic cards that practically every grocery store in the world has that basically they use to track your purchases. ;) They usually have special sales/deals on items you can only get if you use these cards.. generally called something like "bonus savings cards" or something like that. I have one for Super G, genuardis, shoprite, a&p, Pathmark & Acme (yeah there are THAT many grocery stores within a ten mile radius! :joker: ) hth!
edit: Oh yeah- they are sometimes called check cashing cards as well?

I do upromise but not on their credit card. We have a frequent flyer credit card that we charge everything on & pay off each month.
I did open their 529 accounts though. They seemed to have the lowest fees with the better investment houses than a lot of the other plans.

We have had an acct for 3 years and it only has a couple dollars in it. I don't shop much. LOL Maybe that is my problem. It really irks me that my inlaws won't sign up though. They spend like $10K a month on their credit card and pay it off every month.... we could be raking it in!

We use Upromis. We linked our current 529 plan with them, and registered our grocery store cards as well.
The grocery store cards are cards that are used to get discounts at certain stores. They aren't like credit cards as you charge nothing to them.
We charge everything to our Discover Card because they give us cash back. (We always pay it off every month...we have never carried a balance.) BUT, there are places that don't accept Discover, so in those cases we use our Upromise card.
We've earned a few hundred since I signed up.

I have UPromise, but only use it for grocery shopping, but the brands that belong to UPromise are all name brands so they only get bought when they are B1G1F and I have lots of coupons, LOL.
My credit card pays me back 1% in Webcertificates which I use to shop online. I put everything I can on the CC, and we pay our CC in full every month.
