I'm temporarily without my van so trips to the library are a no go at the moment and I'm having to use the internet for a lot of things. I need some kid-oriented sites on world religions...specifically Hinduism and Buddhism for this week. Something with basic beliefs, how they practice their religion, a "day in the life of" type thing. Some yoga history would be cool for this week too!
Anyone have some sites they'd recommend??? TIA! :D I'm googling too but I thought I'd check here too to see if anyone had some that they really liked.

Hope these help:
Buddhism: Brought to you by the BBC: Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development. Buddhists strive for a deep insight into the true nature of life and do not worship gods or deities.

Buddhist Studies for Primary/Secondary Students: Buddhist information and education network -- special section for children, excellent resource

Hinduism: Brought to you by the BBC: Hinduism originated over 3000 years ago. It is not a single unified religion and has no founder, single teacher, nor prophets. Hindus believe in a universal soul or God called Brahman

A good book for purchase is _Window on the World_. The book is divided by countries and list a bit about the people, their religions and how we can pray for them.

Ok, let's try to read more carefully. I *said* web sites. :p J/K of course. We ended up just using what was in UBWH and we discussed the different beliefs. The van is on it's feet again so we're heading to the library hopefully today. I'll check about that one. Does it go well with Story of the World? We're doing the chapters about Islam next week. :juggle:

Sure it could go with SOTW. You would just flip through the book and find countries that have a vast number of Islamic believers and read about them. Then you could look at a map and locate the areas. Hey, I thought this was the spiritual forum, not alternative learning.:joker:
