Okay, help me out here, add your funny antecdotes!

You know you're nursing a toddler when he growls like cookie monster as he's coming at you to nurse!

Oh, this is classic, the other day, our cat was lurking around me as Jordan was sitting on my lap nursing and he actually offered my breast to the cat. Luckily, she didn't take it.

Umm, another one is when I nursed a "Little People" yesterday.

I have to preface this with a little bit of info...we always say a blessing before we eat or drink anything...

so, I know I'm nursing a toddler when he wants to nurse and says a blessing beforehand! - actually, is he still a toddler? he's more than 3:heart:

when they run to you, pop their head under your shirt, put their arms over your knees and swing while they nurse. :p

When you are nursing his/her trucks and dollies, too. When you nurse scraped knees - the actual knee itself. When he sings "It's empty. I want othery othery other!"

When you are treated to long monologues as a prelude to nursing, such as:

"I need a nurse." (okay). "Nurse upstairs!" (walk upstairs). "Long nurse with two cars" (also a roadway mama). "Long nurse with 5 cars!" (gets off bed to find additional cars) "Long nurse with five cars and then play with playdoh." (nipple in mouth) "Long nurse with five cars and then snack and then play with playdoh!" etc etc etc

I particularly enjoy the statements where the nipple is still in the mouth, but he's carefully moving his tongue and teeth around it while speaking.

:hahaha: Same with my two!!! :) Actually, I have several funnies:

When my dd wants to nurse, she brings her dollie and would put the dollie on my right boob, she nurses on the left... and if my ds tries to get up, she would scream, "NO! She nursing now! Wait!" :hahaha:

Whenever they want to nurse, they bring pillows from their room on my chair and said to me "Mommy, please nursing!"

So cute!

BUT I feel like a milking machine

This is what Todd does also. Whenever he wants to nurse he'll go find a pillow (lately it's been a leopard print my sil made for my dd) and brint it to me. He used to say na-na for nursing (started at about 7mo) but he doesn't articulate nursing at all anymore. Just brings me the pillow and then gets po'd if I don't drop everything to nurse him immediately.

I too, feel like a milking machine lately! :)

You know you are nursing a toddler when she sits up and says "This side is empty, I am ready for the other side now."

You know you're nursing a toddler when your toddler falls off of a toy truck at playgroup, hits her lip, screams for about 10 seconds, nurses for about 10 seconds, then is "all better" (except for the fat lip), prompting the other mothers to say "wow, she sure calmed down quick!"

Thank heavens for breastfeeding!!

I am not a roadway, but a train track. Oh the inhabitants of Sodor Island know me well. LOL:joker:

I love it when he stops long enough to give me a kiss, tell me he loves me & proceeds with the task at hand.

when she's done she closes her eyes and says blissfully, "mmmm mmmm."

Also, you know you're nursing a toddler when she grows up into a "big girl" of 3 and you still nurse.;)

:hahaha:

Before dd even told me she loved *me* she popped off to kiss my breast and tell it she loved it.

Lately, we've been working on negotiation (you can nurse for as long as it takes me to sing Twinkle...) and I have an infection on one side and in the middle of the night she'll start negotiating "mama, nooni'", and I say no, and so she starts negotiating---"mama, just as long as it takes to sing 'this old man'!". Of course, she knows that 'this old man' is about the longest song we know! So we compromise on "twinkle".

:joker: :joker: :joker: SOOOO funny! My 4 y.o. isn't nursing, but he tells me all the time, that if I run out of milk for the baby, not to worry because we will go to the store to get some more milk to pour into my boobies! LOL!

he actually wants to pour it in my belly buttton.. he knows the baby will have mommy milk but gets food through the umbellical cord which is 'inside mommy's belly button' - so he figures thats where it should go :joker:

i thought it was pretty smart for 25 months old!

I can relate to almost everything said here!

My DD gives me the description for what kind of nursing she wants beforehand "Jus' little bit of boob-ma" (meaning just a few sips please, no need for anything fancy, i'll help myself, thank you very much) - or - "Boob-ma in bed" (meaning this is going to take a while and probably lead to sleep, but not neccesarily).

Weird thing too - she will stop nursing and say "I'm thirsty" and need a drink of water. What is that!?

The only thing I can think of is when they tell you "I don't want to wean!" as opposed to your weaning a baby and they can't tell you.

I nursed my daughter for 5 years...she's 7 now, and she claims she doesn't remember it! Phooey!

Anna, before all nursing sessions, must hold my breast (ala hambugerstyle) rub her cheek on the side, say "I love my nurse" kiss it, then nurse... then she stops, says "love my nurse" kiss the side of my breast, nuzzle again.. and repeat on other side, LOL...

Makenna does too ,she usually has a cup of water in her hand to nurse casue she pops off and takes a drink then goes back to nursing. ;)

I am pregnant & my supply is gone,She did say the other day, while squeezing my breast "come out milk I KNOW your in there" :joker:

When I get out of the shower, she sees me undressed and says... "mmm, nummy milk!" She makes the cutest voice inflection when she says mmmm

and yesterday she walked up to me and said... "Hey mommy, it's nuss (nurse) time!" and then she got busy playing with whatever was in her hand and forgot what time it was after all...LOL.

All of your stories are so funny. Don't we just love our toddler nurslings!

OKay you know you are nursing a toddler when she is dancing, feet on the floor, watching the wiggles and yes nursing. Glad these boobs have such great stretch!

DS is only 17 months and not talking yet but he does do signs. He started with the "nurse" sign (which I think is actually the sign for milk)... now he is just lazy and just pinches his thumb and fore finger together! He'll run up to me pinching like that, lol.

makes me think he's going to tweek my nipple but he never does.

Also when we are nursing he'll slow way down so I'lll say "are you done" and he'll make a yummmmmmmm sound and shake his head no. So cute!

Now, I have to say that a year and a half ago I would have been horrified by this thread but now I love it!!!

LOL! I remember when I first saw toddlers nursing and I thought "hmm, I guess that works for THAT mother, but I will be happy if we can wean at about a year." When he was 18 months, I realized that I was nursing a toddler and now that he's over two, I sometimes think "wow, how strange it must be to nurse a 3 year old". Guess we'll know soon!
