and trying to remain true to my thrifty word (no, I really don't need that beautiful silk halter from mimi maternity, especially not for $98!), I entered the sweepstakes they have every month. And remembered that there is a book, written by a woman who lives in Ohio, I think, who raised her 5 or 6 kids living off of the proceeds and gifts of contests and sweepstakes that she entered? (Anyone know the name of this book??)

So I surf the net a little more, and there are TONS of sites dedicated to just sweepstakes, and contests. If you could get it down to a science, and minimize your time entering each, I wonder if you could reap any rewards these days? Seems like an interesting thought, for those of us surfing the net anyway. Quite thrifty, if you ever won.

So, does anyone do this? Enter bunches and bunches of contests and sweepstakes?

I tried to once (probably after reading an article about the same woman you mentioned), but I never won anything so I gave up. I'm interested to hear if anyone else has had better luck.

I used to be more into this but I don't have the time to spend any more. Back when why.com was making their debut.....they had a daily contest for those who wrote reviews of other sites. The more reviews you posted, the more times you were entered into their contest. I ended up making $800 in cybercash to spend. It was pretty cool! I was able to buy all of our Christmas and birthdays that year as well as purchase some other "needed" things for our home. FYI.....why.com has since gone under.

I remember that Oprah had a lady on that is a millionaire by doing such things.
