Hmm, maybe I should "food saver" (hey, it's a verb, right?) my stash so it will fit where it belongs, rather than taking over the whole room!

Thanks for the laughs!

I've actually thought about buying one of those. Not to use on food of course - but to do just what you did!

Don't feel bad bArb - since the flat rate boxes came out, mine won't either. Nothing that alters the shape of the envelope. :(

Our po will take them sometimes. You never know which makes it even more frustrating because you can't plan ahead and figure out the cheapest shipping. grrr...

I cheat - I use online shipping, and then just put them in a box. I've never had one returned!

I cheat too - I take them to a shipping substation in my grocery store. They never know the real PO rules :D

WOW! DH has talked about getting a food saver....hmm maybe it would be a good idea?

Chimeing in on the local PO takeing flat rate. They refused one (thanks Allison) and made dh pay the higher flat rate price for a bulging envelope. The clerk checked with the other clerk and asked if this was what the class they had just taken was talking about.

There was also talk about not being alowed to tape the sides but tapeing the flap was ok. It was about the tape blocking where they need to cancle it or something.

At a different PO this week dh was encouraged to do it all on line and just drop off pkgs at the back entrance to the PO. ... gonna have to check that out.

don't you guys do online pickups? Just go to the usps site and schedule a free pickup - it's available for any priority or express packages and if they are coming for one of those you can add first class mail too. You can leave the stuff in a specified area (back door, front door, etc.) or have the mailman ring your doorbell.

I love trying to see what I can fit in there. :) I think the best so far was a pair of sz 20 womens jeans. :)

I do not have a food saver, but I roll the item, put it in a plastic bag and tape the heck out of it, squishing the air out as I go. Works pretty well.

I just sent a flat rate envy yesterday pretty stuffed with tape across the front flap and sides and they didn't say anything. (I use clear tape, could that be the difference?)

I need to get my printer hooked back up to my computer b/c I love printing my postage out and just sticking it in the box or giving it to them at the counter. It's way easier for me than standing in line with a tantruming 2yr old and dealing with the evil eyes of the P.O guy and the line behind me, too. ;) (Not to mention I may not have energy to do it much longer! LOL)
