Here is a listing of a bunch of free patterns I just stumbled upon- the critter knitter project is really cool, too! :)

I do, I do! I actually have 2 pairs on needles right now :D And I have about 3 pairs that I've finished for myself. They are SO cumfy and fit awsome.

I've been to that site, she is pretty cool :D Havn't been there lately, so thanks for the headsup

I'm knitting a pair at the moment, I'm an inch away from being done on the second sock too!!! :)

I used this pattern: http://65.254.41.66/putmeon.htm It's a toe up pattern but with a regular top down heel, not the usual short row heel you see in toe up socks.

Thank you Tami, there are so many sock patterns listed here I've never seen!

I just printed the Mini-Sock pattern to play with, at least it doesn't use size 0 needles. :)

I love that figure 8 cast on! It's what I used when I tried toe-ups from that crazy toes and heels book.

I don't know why but I have a mental block against short rows and the first few socks I made are toe down, so I usually do that... it helps that I actually *like* the kitchener! ;) But I really want to learn the other way and do it.

My mom made some mini socks with an 00 or 000-- for earrings. Talk about tiny!

Hope you enjoy the patterns....I'm working on a pair of opal socks right now... love that stuff. :)

Yep, I always have a pair in progress and a drawer full.

I prefer toe up with a modified/hybrid heel (increase for a gusset, do the short row heel, then finish up with a small heel flap).

I just finished a pair of KPPPM socks and next up is Cherry Tree Hill. My favorite yarn is Opal, but I may be revising that once I finish the CTH socks.

Oh man... you're making me drool... I love the Cherry Hill and the Koigu.......haven't used either for quite a while. Think that will have to change soon! :)

I'm thinking I really, really should try the toe-ups again, too.

If you have never done socks before or get stuck once in awhile like me lol here is a great help page http://www.royea.net/sockdemo1.html
another great site with tons of patterns--http://www.socknitters.com/sockpatterns/sockpatterns.htm
They have a yahoo group and they used to do a sock a month but they just changed it to every other month. They list about 5/6 patterns beg to adv and you pick which one you want to do and sign up for the group. This month I am doing http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATTcrusoe.html As soon as I finish the pair I am working on.

Tami,

I want to say thanks again for that link. After a short break to knit two scarves I went back to the mini sock pattern.

I looked here http://www.knittinghelp.com/ for help in picking up and knitting the gusset stitches but I finally *GET* how a sock is knit now!!! I'm getting close to the toe on this tiny sock, it's not pretty but it does look like a sock.

I got the Magic Loop booklet yesterday. I'm ready to put the double points away now. :)

Tami, you might want to try out this pattern:http://65.254.41.66/putmeon.htm It's toe up but with a regular looking top down heel. :) I'm working on the generic version aka the any gauge, any size version of the pattern. Here's a picture of my 1st sock: http://www.joknits.com/2005/01/blue3.jpg
