I have a couple of rows that look ok. Thanks to a couple of the movie links posted here, I think I am finally getting it. I like the way it looks. My grandmother says I need to crochet, it is easier. I knew how to do that as a teen. I like the way knitting looks better. Other than that, does one have an advantage over the other?

Well, I was knitting. I decided that Barbie had a good scraf (not really what I intended it to be but hey). I tried to bind it off and messed up. So, I have tried to start over about 20 times now and can't do it again. Things keep getting too tight. I can't move my needles. I give up for today. :(

Well, at least you know that you *can* do it.:) What kind of yarn are you using? I have found that 100% cotton yarn has very little "give" to it. I used it the first time I tried knitting and gave up because it kept getting too tight also. I am pretty much a beginner knitter too, so I have no idea if anything else could be causing that.

As for your question abut crochet, I have never tried it, but my mom says knitting was easier for her to learn but that once you get the hang of crochet, it goes a lot faster than knitting.

Good luck and don't give up!

Don't give up! Once your hands get the hang of the movements... it'll be smooth sailing :D

For me, I knit and crochet at the same speed, but since the crochet stitches are bigger, the projects go faster. But, I like the look and feel of knitting a ton better.

Good luck mama
