This is the scarf I was working on for my friends mom. She was bitten on the ankle by her own cat a few months ago, and her Dr's didnt treat her aggressively, so she ended up having a huge infection that took a LONG time to heal. Almost as soon as she was back to work, she fell and broke the SAME foot, and is now in a cast for 6-8 weeks ~ I wanted to cheer her up a bit. Its homespun with eyelash trim. On my daughter, it looks like a shawl :) It has pockets!!
Also modeled is a simple cap I finished tonight from Debbie Bliss' book "baby knits for beginners" I am a bad girl and I never make a gauge swatch if I can help it. So I dont know if the pattern runs big, or if it was my fault. THis was supposed to be a 6-12 months size, and I thought it might fit my 2 yo son. Well. It also fits my 7 & 5.5 yo daughters, and my DH too. All three of them would like one now, minus the *thing* on top LOL This one is made from camouflage acrylic.
Im thrilled to finally have a knit and show up ;cool:

Very nice scarf!! You guys amaze me with your scarf knitting. I've been knitting for 2 years now and I havn't knitted a scarf yet, lol.
That hat is too cute! You can always tie that "thing" into a knot on top :) We have some of that acrylic too. Made ds a couple of hats out of it :D

I think the hat tails look cute tied into a knot too, it changes the look a lot more than you'd think. wtg mama!

I think the pattern was from lionbrand, but I cant remember, and we're away from home. I *do* remember the pattern though... I used homespun yarn, and it took more than one skein. cast on 29 stitches on a 9 or 10 needle (I used circular) the pattern called for it to be garter stitch, which would have alleviated my problems with curling, but I like stockinette better, so I did it out of that.
The entire scarf was supposed to measure 76" before pockets. You knit the whole thing then fold up 8" on each end and join the sides to make the pockets. Knit in stockinette til it measures 8" ending in a purl row, then do another purl row and stockinette for another 60" ending in a purl row, then purl another row, and stockinette for the last 8" That makes the pockets reverse of the body of the scarf so that when you fold up the pockets, they match. The pattern didnt call for it but I used fun fur/eyelash and crocheted a border around the whole thing.
Sorry my instuctions are weird... I dont know the proper names and ways to tell you to do it all :)

Thank you for the directions! I think I can actually do that.
I was wondering if you just folded up the ends of the scarf to make the pocket. That sounds do-able!
The eylash/fringe is soo cute o it! :)
