Our only requirement is that there is a beach and the weather is warm. We'll probably be going in march. We're not too picky about nice hotels or anything either. ;)

Are those places cheap?? I was thinking more like Florida. LOL. But I'm all for international travel if it's cheap. ;)

With me :) But umm, spring is high tourist time in FL. So nothing's cheap as far as hotels go. (unless you stay with someone for free ;) )

Where are you?

I'm thinking Vegas baby.

If you go midweek, like Sun- Thurs hotels are FREAKING cheap! And there's tons to do... as I'm finding out.

We're going in two weeks and I'm looking forward to it. And we don't drink OR gamble!

If you go to Orlando the last week in Feb/first week in March (if Easter is not early this year...I don't know when it is!), you will have no crowds, and the hotels will be rock bottom. We did it last year, it was sooo nice. No beaches, though, unless you drive to either the east or west coast of the state. Oh, and Disneyworld is anything but cheap, LOL.

Or you can come to Port Charlotte/Englewood/Venice area, (FL) on the west coast, and enjoy white sand beaches..... don't know about hotel prices, though I do live in Port Charlotte....:)

Orlando is super cheap to fly into :) See a theme here?? LOL New Smyrna beach is pretty - and might be warm enough for you (not me!!!) in late Feb, early March. Hotels are pretty booked aroung here (maybe not so much in Orlando) from Speed Week (Daytona 400/500, something like that) through Bike week (next week after the race) and then there's spring break. But in Feb, the manatees are in Blue Springs (2 min from me and they're AWESOME!!) and you can see dolphins in the intercoastal. Lots of cheap cool stuff to do :)

Just wanted to bump this to see if anyone has anymore ideas. ;)
We don't want to do vegas b/c we want a beach. Basically, we don't care if *all there is* is a beach, lol.

Have you stayed at Sanibel, Laurie? I've always thought it looked gorgeous, but from what I can tell the lodging would kill us. We're talking $260/night for the holiday inn! Just wondering if you had any lodging secrets. ;)

If you can go in Feb South Padre Island is really nice. Oct-Feb are off peak rates so its cheap for hotels. Then, you can also go across to Mexico if you'd like. There are some good resturants and markets over there.

don't go if it needs to be in March though. Spring Break time is crazy. We don't venture anywhere near the island until after Easter.

We are quite happy with Vegas too. We stay at Mandalay Bay, where we got a HUGE suite (we were bumped up when we arrived with kids LOL) with two full bathrooms and a sitting room, a family room and more. It was about 120 a night, and it truly feels like a beach when you go to the pool.

It does get cold though, I'm not sure when their cold season is....

Hawaii is getting cheaper, when we went one November we were the ONLY people on Waikiki beach! Very cool.

*cough* *cough*

My house - 20 minutes from the beach. Prettier beaches 40 minutes away. Of course you don't HAVE to stay with me, I can find you a cheap hotel :) There's one a mile from my house, lol.

Man, you sewing mamas are cracking me up! Is San Diego warm enough in March for beach-going? DH would love to go to CA to see the big dairy farms but that's not exactly my idea of a great vacation. Plus airfare is over $100 more per person to CA.

Allison, where are the cheap hotels near you?? We want a hotel that is close enough to the beach that we can walk.

I'm seeing good prices on fares from Syracuse to Ft. Myers, like $180.

Laurie, I checked out that Holiday Inn (Estero Beach?) and it is $180/night. Totally out of our price range.
I'm starting to think about camping!

It will be hard (but not impossible) to find a cheap hotel (less than $100/night) within walking distance to the beach :( That time of year is really busy and they tend to raise their prices. Some of the hotels are already booked for some dates!

Same thing with airline prices for that time of year. It's probably the nicest weather wise for notherners (big difference to their weather) but there's so much going on that everyone jacks prices up!

You can check out prices for hotels at Orbits.com New Smyrna is nicer beach, but tends to be more expensive. Daytona is more crowded and has more driving on the beach than New Smyrna. Ormond beach is a little bit North of Daytona, and is nice too.
