Alex has really been great lately. I did not even tell him what was going on with me, and he has just some reason was in tune with what I needed. I woke up the other morning and he had gotten dressed, emptied the dishwasher, put things away, and made him and his sister breakfast (cereal and cut apples, but you know, he is 8).

This afternoon I picked him up an hour early from school (half days) and we went to make mugs for the grandparents for Christmas, and he made drew all the planets from the Sun to Pluto (and labeled it "planits" which I thought was adorable!) for both of his grandpas...

Then we get home. I finally pick up and dispose of the pumpkins (they were getting pretty nasty) and he was asking me if we still had to cut down the diseased tree in our yard. I told him we did and he said "But with all the mushroom fairy footprints around it, don't you think somebody blessed it?" I told him I did not know, and so as I was standing there he walked, very carefully so he did not sqwish any of the fairy foot prints (mushrooms), and stood next to the tree in prayer pose (yoga), and said:

"May the Fairys bless you,
May Mother Earth take care of you,
and may God watch over you and make you grow."

No kidding, this was made up on the spot by my 8 yr old... I nearly cried. He has just stepped into this amazing place in his life and I just am loving it! I can see all of the beauty of what this is going to mean as he becomes a man. It is amazing. He is giving and kind, and always has been, but all of a sudden it is so evident that it makes him really shine.

It was really beautiful and I wanted to share that.

Love Val

Isn't it just achingly sweet? Thomas is also at this amazing place and I wonder how it could get any better. I'm glad to know that I have something to look forward to.
