I think I have it somewhere but that could be ANYWHERE in my house, lol... can i use pantyhose?
Any last minute pointers???? I have NEVER made a waldorf doll or anything resembling soft sculpture.. I am starting at the beginning...

THANKS! WISH ME LUCK!

Cool Selena! I am glad you are doing your first doll!
I would pick gauze over pantyhose. I haven't done a direct comparison, but I would think that the panthose would be too stretchy and you would get a not so firm and round head. The gauze tubing really holds the shape of the head so your wool stuffing takes on a nice shape before you do the sculpting.
That is my best guess anyway!
Good luck! You have to post pics when you are done!!! ;)

You could sew a tube out of a thin, knit fabric to mimic a tube of gauze. I would not use pantyhose either, too stretchy.
Would a really worn men's undershirt work? Well, it doesn't have to be a man's - that was more to aid in the describing - you know - those thin, cotton shirts...
Ahhh... Kinder Dolls (the book) even suggests that. Of course, be sure it's lighter in color than the doll skin.
If you want to get gauze, you can try your local medical supply store. You want "finger bandage" or "gauze tubing" according to KD.
