Our 27-month-old has started biting but it's as if she's doing it to be silly. It's kind of strange. She'll come up behind me and bite me on the butt. It's disconcerting as I'm certainly not expecting the bite and she's just kind of playing.

We've explained that it hurts to bite and then she'll turn around and bite herself as if she's trying to figure out what the big deal is.

This has been going on for about two weeks and so far she's only bitten DH and me. What have you done?

Well, our biting problems stemmed from a combination of teething, boredom, and frustration. Daniel had to be teething, but also had to be either bored or frustrated.

I think your reaction needs to be different. Nothing extreme, just say "no! that hurts mama!" and walk away. Sometimes we get caught up in too much explanation, and our message gets lost.
