We tried nutramigen, neocate, allimentum and home made goat milk formula. He has different problems with each of them. I can't pump enough milk to not need to supplement. I have already tried everything to get my milk supply up. My baby has a cleft palate and has never been able to nurse. Ironic for a mother completely dedicated to breastfeeding.
So Any ideas on the formulas that I have yet to hear of?

Thank you so much for anything!

Have you thought about getting donated breastmilk or is Liam also very sensitive to what you are eating. I wish I still lived close to you as this would be an even easier option. If you want I could pump a collection of milk for him though sending it overnight is expensive(but maybe less than formula?). Plus our babies are very close in age. If this isn't an option I hope some other moms have some useful suggestions. Give me a call sometime if you can, it has been forever since we chatted.

i agree, donated breast milk might work.

i'm sure you've tried everything with cleft palate, but my son teddy has a genetic disorder which usually involves cleft palate. teddy doesn't have it, but many of the kids do, and i know some of them have nursed, as a result of teddy's immune system being so much better than the kids ahead of him, virtually none of whom were nursed. do you want me to ask around on our loop and see if anyone has suggestions? one of the best cp surgeons for kids with teddy's problems is here in birmingham and i can also ask if he can put you in touch with anyone helpful (he's a sort of bf committed guy, his wife nursed twins after losing one breast to cancer, so he gets it)

Have you tried any of the other SHS products besides Neocate?

http://www.shsna.com/html/products.htm

I know one other company made an amino acid based formula but can't rememeber the name. Let me see if I can find it. I've used that as well for the girls, but they were mostly on Neocate.

Here it is, it's called Elecare & Ross makes it.

No help on the formula but I believe "Tapdancingmama" bf'ed a baby with cleft and might be able to offer some nursing suggestions.
Good luck!

(((Hugs))) My dd was born with medical problems and had issues with every formula also. Have you tried a perscription to boost your supply? We had to suffer through and nothing we found ever worked and she didn't really tolerate any foods either until she was 2.5 yrs old. I wish I would have known more to keep my bf relationship with her. If I could do it again I would try my best to keep going with bf her.

My ds was breastfeed and had no problems. It was really a struggle for me to do but I was much more educated on how to correct the problems we had.

HTH at all but probably didn't. lol

Thank you all for your ideas. He was allergic to all of those. Finally I made a homemade formula which helped him gain a pound a week and resolved his reflux and rashes.
He had surgery in June and is now being weaned off the formula onto watered down goats milk which he can now tolerate. We are forcing him onto more solids but he is more than willing and tolerating solids better than either of his siblings. He is walking talking and has a palate now. We have been blessed. It is quite a saga I will have to write down.

So glad to hear everything is going well:)
