I want to make some of the pretty pinecone firestarters for my Mom. She has been using those treated logs for years~ blech.
Is there a recipe or directions somewhere?
Oh, JIK I am the only one who knows what these are, they are pinecones dipped in some kind of scented wax. They are beautiful and I saw a basket at Sam's, but it was $20 for like 6 pinecones!

I googled it and found:
Pinecone firestarters. Does your friend or relative have a fireplace? If so, a basket of pinecone firestarters is an inexpensive, useful, and beautiful gift. Collect pinecones and dip them in melted wax. The wax makes the pinecones burn longer. But don't run out to the craft store and buy wax, just melt candle stubs. Arrange in a yard sale basket and attach a note that says, "Help your cozy fire get off to an easy start. Add one or two pinecones with your kindling."

There were a ton more.
This is a great idea! You know we *could* get together and make these since we are practically neighbors. ;)

LOL, my Google skills must lack! All I got was where to buy them already made! LOL
We are neighbors aren't we?
Maybe we could do that!
Thanks for the links! I am definitely going to make these. My mom lights the fireplace anytime it drops below 70! Haha!
