So I made my first crane today…a slightly (very) wrinkled little fellow. I am trying to learn from books…this is something where I definitely think a teacher would be helpful…but I did it! I hope I get better. I am good at making a cup!
This book has a lot of interesting things to make…some even useful.
Anyway…does anyone like to do origami? What are some of the interesting things you have made? What is your favorite kind of paper? Are you making any origami Christmas gifts. May I see pictures of other people origami (sorry my little wrinkled crane will not be on display:p ) I would like to make some peace cranes I saw once, origami cranes with crystal-like beads.

Boxes are so easy!!!
I am never going to buy a box again…even lids are easy…and if you made them out of study paper-board w/ fabric covering, they could be a gift…even the dividers are easy! I like boxes…made another crane, too…I am getting better.

For christmas I am making Patrick a mobile with origami figures to hang from the ceiling over his co-sleeper. They are so light the ceil fan will move it gently

I find it so peaceful.
Last year I made over 30 crane ornaments using vellum paper and glass beads and wire. I had so much fun! I will look for my pictures of them to post.
ENjoy!

This has been on my mind ever since you shared this idea Jenn :). I love the box making idea...I would love to make some crane ornaments and give them in oragami boxes for gifts. I bet even dd (5) could help me on this one. We could have some nights we stay up later then my dh & ds and have a craft night.

I am having a hard time making the fish…I follow the instructions, by the tail is in a completely different place! Does anyone have a fish pattern they like?
Maybe I will search online.
The stars are especially pretty.
Silver and gold stars and cranes look pretty for ornaments or a mobile.
How about bookmarks anyone making bookmarks?

My friend did the things you blow up. Then she has them on x-mas lights in her children's room. I want to do the same thing. I just keep forgetting.

Ohhh…I think I am going to do that (the light idea)…I love that idea. I have made mobiles and little kites to hang all around the boys room already…they love it!

I did some in college. There was a super sweet guy who asked for my help. We made 11 red roses together. then he got one real one. he sent the box to his girlfriend, and flew to her town the same day. She opened the box and then he rang the doorbell.
I thought it was SO romantic!
