i'm 44 and i'm wondering what the deal is. my own mother is NO help, although i know she went through menopause early, but i was her only child, born at 22.

i have all of a sudden been very out of sorts, and i get nervous and then my stomach gets upset--no other way to explain it. sort of like the bottom drops out. it's manageable, but annoying. feels a lot like having too much caffeine, only i don't drink caffeine. and i've had one period post-ollie, but that was two months ago.

any ideas or links for me to look at?

Well, I can't speak from personal experience, but my mom made me promise to recommend this website and menopause book to everyone I know http://www.johnleemd.com/. He has a pre-menopause book also, which it sounds like you may be.

I know this book also helped another AW mama here avoid a hysterectomy. Maybe she will speak up.

And I just realized you are *exactly* between my mom's age and mine.

Maybe you didn't need to know that little tidbit.

rotflmao. i could be most of y'all's mama

thanks for the info allison. my doctor has always warned me that he doesn't approve of hrt, although he does use some "alternative" therapies (i have no clue what this means. i always assumed it was 20 years off). i guess i need to go in and ask him.

Only if you were a *very* young mother. You are only 14 years my elder. Well, 13 years in a week, Nov 2nd to be exact. So, vote for Kerry for my birthday present ;)

ooh! don't get me started. i will just say that ellie got in trouble at school two weeks ago when kerry lost the straw poll in her class and she got really and truly pissed off at her friends. it was sort of embarassing having to counsel with the teacher about it, but dh told her he was increasing her allowance afterwards, lol.

Go, Ellie, Go!! Our little resident liberal...

Allison, happy early birthday and I'll think of you when I cast my vote for Kerry. :D

Joyce, if you find out it's peri-menopause, there are probably some homeopathic remedies to consider. I'm just starting to learn about them and I'll lyk if I hear of anything that's good.

LOL about Ellie. She could hang with Ara. We went to the food co-op the other day and the suburban next to us had several Bush stickers. Ara asked if they were voting for Bush and I said it sure looked like it. When we got into the co-op Ara was looking around the store and she says really loudly, "Well, which one is it? What do you think a Bush person looks like? You think it is that one?" Good thing "Bush Person" sightings are rare around here :joker:

Allison, thank you for posting that website. I have been feeling 'different' over the last few months myself. I mentioned to DH that I wondered if I may be in the early stages of menopause. Later he suggested I really research before starting HRT. It was kind of funny at the time hearing him say it. Apparently he had been asking around about menopause and did some research on his own. He didn't realize I had already decided I was going to try not to use HRT. It was great though to know he cared so much about me:heart:

:hahaha: at Ellie and Ara! OMgosh. That is so funny.

We had a chance to meet George W. Bush a few years back. So, we did. Airon remembers part of it and we still have pictures. This was before 9/11.

Yesterday he asked if I knew who I was going to vote for. I told him I wasn't sure. I asked him who he would vote for and he said probably Bush.

He asked why other people would vote for the "other guy".

I finally had to tell him about the war and 9/11. I had kept it from him which may or may not have been a good idea. He's still wrapping his brain around that one.

Honestly, I don't know what he thinks now. He is definitely a kid with his own opinion. Oh how that pains me. :D

Oh and I don't know anything about menopause except I'm getting closer to it all the time!
