My son's birthday is coming up, and in his class, when it's your birthday, you bring a treat for the rest of the class. Then they all celebrate and sing Happy Birthday and share out the treats.
Everybody seems to bring cupcakes. I have no desire to bring in a tray full of store-bought, super sweet icing cupcakes. You should see the kids when they come out of class on birthdays, lol. They al have icing on their noses, and they are running around like monkeys. :) I don't mind bringing in something cake-y, to make it feel like a special treat, but I'd like it to be at least relatively healthy. All the treats that we make at home and that my son enjoys are too whole-grainy and not sweet enough for the kids in his class. Is there a compromise? I'd love some recipes or ideas.
Edited to add his school is nut-free.
