They finally started picking up the plastic recyclables. I used to have to cart them to the recycling center myself. Now to run over and pick up an extra recycling bin ;)

You are lucky - OUr town doesn't have any recycling - everyone is responsible to hire a service and pay.
Warm wishes,

It consistanly amazes me how ahead our city is for things like this. We only have garbage pick up every other week, the off week we have recycling pick up. The recycling bins are free, so you can get two if you need them. I LOVE it.

Why on earth doesn't Philadelphia do this?! Ugh. I either take our plastic out to my parents' house in Chester County, or to one of the once-a-month dropoffs at the local Unitarian Church.

Oh, it's free to get an extra bin for the asking :)
Tara, I'm glad Plymouth finally got around to it. I guess this is why they bought the big new recycling truck. Ahh, tax dollars at work! They do have a pretty good chipper program too, all you have to do is call, and they'll chip up your yard trimmings. They also collect Xmas trees and chip them. Then you can pick up the mulch at the township building.
I still get frustrated, though. We basically cancel out our next door neighbors, who recycle NOTHING :( Free recycling pickups every week, a free bin, and they still can't bother. They give me a weird look when I walk home from a picnic and take my cans with me :D
Philly does the free mulch thing, too (pickup in Fairmount Park), and they also give out free composters to anyone who will attend a one-hour info session on composting. So I do like that.
Oh, if we don't recycle glass/cans/newspaper (and get caught), we will get fined up to $300!

We have excellent curbside recycling here in Exeter Twp too :) I got 2 big, new cans from the township & they take EVERYTHING, LOL. Paperboard (cereal boxes), corrugated, glass, cans, all plastics, copy paper, newspaper, batteries...you name it. They even use motor oil to heat the township auto garage all winter & the dropoff for that is right down the street from me. What's even better is they actually DO recycle unlike most areas where the stuff still ends up in the landfill because it's actually pretty spendy to recycle some items. It costs us $4 a quarter on our sewer bill for recycling and it is mandatory, I believe. We were able to take our family of 6 down to once-a-week trash service because we recycle so much!
And LOL about the composting--I'm attending the class here tomorrow night to get my free composting bin, $5 for the class and an hour and a half away from the kids :D
Not sure what I'm doing on super-crunch, ROFL...but I'm pretty passionate about recycling.

Man, I need to get hooked up with a composting bin! I don't think my township has anything like that. Right now I'm just using an old trash can that's about to give through the bottom. Gotta do something with all this chicken manure!
I think I should call the county extension office....

Haverford township has a program that teaches composting, and you get a free bin. I am pretty sure it is run by the extension office.
I'm not positive if you need to be a county resident to get the free compost bin, but here are the rest of the workshops for this season:

(Scroll midway down the page.) You could call the extension and see if they'd go for it.
The bins are really nice, too - this is the one I got 2 years ago:
