We were supposed to go to court on September 20. It was a follow-up from the court date last April where DHR filed to terminate Desmond's biological mother's parental rights. At that time, the judge came close to terminating, but decided to give her one more chance. He gave her a list of things she needed to work on to show that he should change his mind. The September date was set for him to re-evaluate.

Well, apparently DHR messed up with the scheduling because that judge does not even have court on Mondays (which is was the 20th was). The only thing on the docket is for a regular review in December (which was scheduled prior to the scheduling in September). DHR has really dropped the ball on all of this and I am getting very frustrated. Some of you know how long we have waited to find out Desmond's future and how much we just want permanence for him ~ whether it is with us or with his mother.

He has been in our care for 28 months. Regulations in our state say that children are not to be in Foster care more than 13 months.

Just decided to give an update, since some people have asked me what is going on with his case.

{{{LISHA}}} Oh, I so hope he becomes available for adoption. The system sure is frustrating isn't it and we've only dealt with it for 9 months. UGH

Yeah, that sounds like the system. dealt with that crap 4 and a half years and counting. Wanna come share the wall I am banging my head into?

You can write DSS a letter and CC it to your local congressman as well and WRITE them that you are CC'ing it. Then confront them on the facts, that he has been with you for 28 months so it is time to put a court datye with some decisions on the docket NOW. Add lots of their own rules quoted and tons of " best interest of the child" in there and something may well happen. I have gotten a few things done with them that way. They hate being exposed.
