Her name is Jeanne. I met her one day as she crossed the street by my house and asked for help with her cell phone. She is about 60 and very talkative, but such an interesting life story. She was a street child, raised herself from when she was like 8. She has a disability that keeps her from sleeping for days at a time, and she has bad short term memory. She is very artistic an demanding, and i found out she got evicted from her apartment because she wandered around talking to people and people were annoyed by her. Her husband of 35 years was told he had to "control" her when she took walks at night when she could not sleep. Jeanne has severe PTSD and this also debilitates her in so many ways.

Her husband stuck by her and loves her. JEanne has filed for divorce because her mental disabilities have caused him legal problems. Yet he continues to stick by her and loves her.

I thought Jeanne was maybe making some this up, honestly. I gave her a ride so she could go shopping one day. I n my van she had left some paperwork, and at first i thought it was some of Isaac's stuff re his divorce. It was a letter to the eviction court by Jeanne's husband , who was advocating for the wife he loves and describing his heartache loving a mentally challenegd woman.

I have never ever met Bruce. But he has inspired me so much.

I wrote this song for him.

Crazy

He has loved her for a decade or three
Maybe shorter maybe longer
Her smile is bright but not as often as before
yet his love’s been growing stronger

He remembers when her flowing blonde hair
Danced below her slender neck
Illness ripped the years away
Left to linger day by day
He just wants to buy some back

Chorus:
Jeanne is crazy
He’s crazy about her
How her mind is like a painting
In a photographic time
while the world out there ignores her
she’s the apple of his eye

He knows at times she walks the streets alone at night
When the sandman couldn’t find her
Waving freely at the cars driving by
Wrapped in the dark the folks don’t mind her

He sleeps scattered moments shredded by her tears
Tender comfort found in coffee
As they cry between the sheets
In the night their sorrow meets
And he wishes it would fade

Nothing matters when the perfect people whisper
Let the ignorant walk by
While he hugs a little tighter
He reminds her she is fine
She’s the apple of his eye

Chorus:

But Jeannie is crazy
He’s crazy about her
No one else may show her mercy
For the weakness of her mind
He embraces the grind

Love is patient love is kind

For Jeanne is crazy
And she's the apple of his eye…

He has loved her for a decade or three
Maybe shorter maybe longer
And she’s the apple of his eye.
