I am trying to add some EFA (essential fatty acids) to our diets and am getting confused bettween omega 3, 6 & 9s.

which is which? and how much to give?
also what do I give the kids as they dont swallow pills well yet?

I have cod liver oil capsules I am giving the kids by putting it on there food or in there juice (pricking a hole and sqeezing it out)
what # efa does that cover?

also what is the RDA for vit A & D?
(dd is about 35lb and ds is about 50lb)

TIA

the website www.mercola.com has a lot of good information about healthy fats.

From what I understand people tend to get plenty of the 9's and 6's. I have been adding cod liver oil to our diet lately. I read that it is best in unheated forms and all the capsules are heated in order to encapsulate the oil. I mix it with orange juice and it doesn't seem to bother any one (even though the oil floats on the top).

I don't know where you live but for most people you only need the extra vit D in the winter, the rest of the year we take fish oil.

One more pointer... make sure whatever brand you use has been tested to make sure that it doesn;t have any mercury contamination.

good luck, it's good stuff ;)
