I went to the mw today (I finally gave in) and she said I have thrush in my milk ducts :(

Anyhow, she prescribed diflucan for a minimum of 2 weeks, and Jack Newmans APNO.

She also said that Lucas is latching wrong, and she thinks it's from the nipple confusion (he nurses for about 15-20 minutes, and then I supplement with formula in a bottle- low milk/super SORE boobies)

She told me I need to get a SNS system, and that they were about 40., etc, etc.

She also told me most of my low supply was from not getting enough stimulation, and that once I got rid of the bottle all together, my milk should come back in full force.

She walked out of the room to get my scripts, and came back in with about 10 copied pages from Hale's about what I had, my scripts, and told me to go next door to the hosp. where I delivered and go to the postpartum floor, they were holding a sns for me.... for FREE!

I am soo happy to finally know what's wrong with me, hopefully this will get it all cured up. (Keep your fingers crossed!)

EXCELLENT!! I'm so glad that all this has worked out.
It's so hard to have a nursing little one that's having a hard time.

Take care and looking forward to your next post on how wonderful things are going.

Not great answers, but I'm glad you got answers!!! That is 1/2 the battle. At least now you know what you are dealing w/ and how to treat it. :big hug:

I'm glad you've got answers. Ductal thrush is no fun - btdt - but at least you are going to get proper treatment. I found cutting out sugars and taking GSE and acidophilus helped with the ductal thrush - I actually had to do diflucan for a month and also treat the babies mouths with Gention violet and acidophilus to totally get rid of it

Cheryl,

How many times a day did you do the GV and acid. for the girls?

I did the GV for Lucas, and it cleared it up, but I gave it back to him... and we want to get rid of it for good this time!

My local WIC gave me an SNS for free:) Maybe you can check with them and save the $40
